Allison broke in half????

There is a guy complaining about his second Allison in 97K breaking the case on the gm-diesel.com site in the Duramax forum half way down.



"When the dealer got to taking a look at it, it would not move. they checked the fluid. None... . added a quart and it ran right out the bottom. pushed it into the lift and found that the transmission had BROKE in half just ahead of the transfer case. Now that is a fine one. About now I have had all that I can deal with and am running out of money trying to keep this POS running. I am not happy, and can not wait for Chevy to tell me how this could have possibly happen. in my 53 year I have never even heard of a transmission case breaking on a vehicle. say nothing about one breaking on a vehicle that is chevy tough and one that is supposed to have the best transmission in the business?"

Wow, only a 3yr/36K mile warranty on the trans ... can you say SOL!! That guy is gonna shell out a lot of money real soon.

Check the driveshaft! I have seen cases crack because the driveline wasnt right.

It aint only chevys, I have a 89 T-Bird SC with a M5R2 layin around that has the back of the transmission broke off. I bet the guy who was driving had to change his shorts as the shifter was ripped through the floorboard. I'm sure it had nothin to do with the Mickey ET Drags.
