DELIVERY OF 2022 RAM 3500

Pure Diesel Power

Until you do...
However, I would bet money an Allison will not go into the RAM
I like my Aisin also, but everything changes and things get better.

I vote for RELIABLE. Love the Aisin personally. I don't think 8 or10 speeds would change my life in a meaningful way. Dunno, maybe those ZF's are just as reliable as Aisin, not sure where you find the stats. But if they switch I will just keep my truck for a few more years and see how it shakes out.

Good call!!!

I have a truck on order and had a problem with the dealer about not wanting the aluminum wheels. Which led to a call from a dodge rep about what our problem was, long story. Anyway the order was put in before they shut down the HD line in Mexico. He said it may not be up until February. I could make any changes I wanted until then. He said there are going to be a lot of changes and he will let me know. I asked him about Allison. He said the 23s will have them, not sure about the 22s when they start up. I asked him if they would be that rebranded Allison10 speed that GM is using. He said he didn't know but for a while you may have a choice. An Allison made by Allison I am ok with. That rebranded 10 speed made by GM and called an Allison I am not. I am fine with the Aisin, this has been the best working trans I have had in a truck and I hate to mess with what works. He said he would call when it is time to finalize the truck with any changes they may have made. Maybe we will know something then.
Are you sure you spoke with an actual Ram rep, and not some homeless dude smoking a joint? Don't bet on any of that.

I am not betting on anything, I don't really want an Allison anyways. I am getting close to canceling the order. I have gotten used to being debt free. There is someone near us that wants to start hot shot. He has hall a few loads for me, but he needs more truck. Besides I am looking for a reason to retire anyways.
So you don't need to concern yourself about my truck.

Well, now you tell me...I haven't gotten a lick of sleep since your post. Sorry for letting you know the guy's FOS.

I'm only speculating but if Ram does go with ZF it will likely be a variation of their MD Powerline series. Those units have what ZF calls a "lifetime" filter. I assume that means it's serviceable in some way.

Lifetime is 100,000 miles. Their filters are $$$ and ONLY their fluid. Totally reliable. FCA uses them in Hellcats, Demons, TRX trucks do and any of their supercharged Vi’s. Stock transmissions are handling upgrades to 1100hp and 900 lb-ft torque driven daily and raced. Strong.

here is a stack of Hellcat 1/4 mile time slips to back up that claim. Most of those runs are using a big ole set of Mickey Thompson drag radials.
