Would like feedback (positive or negative) folks can give about quality of both product and installation of auxilliary fuel tank/toolbox combos made by American Tank & Toolbox in Frisco TX. I'm planning to get their 45 gal combo and have them install it too. Though an '03, my stock tank's been upgraded with the in-tank pump. Thanks in advance for the help!

Been running one on my 98. 5 for about 9 years. It is better quality than others that I have seen. It has a bottom built in the toolbox and the tanks from Northern Tool don't. Theirs use the tank for the bottom of the box, would be easier to stick something through the tank. Have been very well satisfied with my 90 gal. combo and if I were buying another, I would buy the same again from American Tank.

I have combo tanks in both of my trucks. My 93 has a 45gal trans flow very high quality. I needed the electric tank switching valve and they got me one right away. My 04. 5 has a 65gal american in it, it is a generic in comparison. I called them for a replacement shock for the lid 3 times they said it was in the mail, never got one. I told them I would pay for it if that was the problem, still nothing. So I gave up. Now you hold it up with a prybar. I cut a quarter inch piece of particle board to fit in the american so I wouldn't punch a hole through it. The trans flow is a tank within a tank. It'd be much harder to put a hole in it. I paid $350 for the american. The trans flow was in the truck when I bought it. It's well over a $1000 tank. I doubt I would have paid that much for a tank, but you get what you pay for. One has the lids that open to the sides of the truck and the other one has one large one. They both have their pros and cons. I drive long distances and I wouldn't be without a second tank. Good luck and have fun.

I have a farm tank in my truck 100gal and a pump and filter to fill the truck tank. It gives me a brake from driving to get out and fill my tank. I do it in a rest stop also a good time to hit the john and strech my legs 425. 00 All so nice to get some out for other things.

I have the sameone your looking at in my 03 since I bought the truck and it has been great. Not one problem. I would buy again in a heart beat. I have had questions before and called them and got great customer service from them.

Steve, both my son and myself had American Tank and Toolbox tanks put in our trucks. We went to his location and had him do the installations too. I highly recommend both him and his tanks. This guy knows what he is doing and makes his tanks right there on the site. I have a 65 gal in my bed. With your in tank pump he will put another pump in th aux tank. Then you can run off either tank independently of the other, great idea if you have a problem with one just switch to the other. Have had mine for 4 years, no problems at all. I believe his web site is www.auxtank.com and he is north of Dallas in Frisco, TX. I think his name is Shulman.

All,

Thanks for the feedback! Having access through the TDR for this kind of info is, to me, very important before making a big $ decision. I talked to Mike at American Tank, and asked him some questions before making the decision, and his answers satisfied my standards. I'm also having him powder coat the tank satin black, so that's a plus too. I'll post a reply to this thread after the tank's installed and ops checked.

I had Mike at American Tank put the mentioned tank in my truck this last week. I was very impressed not only with his build and installation quality, but with his customer service attitude and friendliness as well. I could have gotten a cheaper priced (and cheaper quality) tank closer to NM, but I believe it well worth my time to drive over to Frisco and deal with Mike. I highly recommend him to anybody needing an aux tank.
