I just came from Scheels where I was dumbfounded by ammo shelves filled to capacity in every caliber! It has been a very long time since I have seen that!!
But the prices were still unreal!
I bought . 40 S&W American 165 gr for $18 per 50 (36 cents per round). Remanufactured ammo in the same . 40 cal, but 180 gr, was $85 for 250 rounds (34 cents per round) in bulk. That is only 2 cents difference per round for reloads vs. new. Not much of a savings. The "once-fired" brass is worth more than the 2 cents difference.
The same American ammo in 180 gr was $20 per box of 50 (40 cents per round).
It is nice to see full shelves, though how long it might last is hard to say. But I think ammo manufacturers are taking their cue from Big Oil and will continue to gouge the crap out of us on prices. Not to mention the retailers...
Are you guys seeing better ammo inventories, too?
