6.2L Diesel Help

So did they figure out how to make the motor (add fuel it couldn't get before) pull a heavy load over 60 mph? Wow! Can they really bring these trucks out of the oil and tobacco fields now, put a trailer behind and use the hammer lane of the interstate for its intended purpose?

I must have gotten one of the few good Dodge trucks. I can actually pull into the hammer lane from time to time with a small load. :) Hmmmm, now that I think about it, I can't remember a PS passing me when we both had a load. Oh well, maybe someday we will be lucky enough to have a v8 ;) hahahahaha

rebel horseman posted on that thread at the bottom... and he's 100% correct. Those guys are blinded fools, it's like the blind leading the blind into a wall of fire if you ask me. They constantly bicker and fight with each other, and have nothing but bad things to say about you unless you drive a 6. 0 Ford.

Ridiculous if you ask me. I asked my wife the other day why all these people buy ford trucks around us. I see them EVERYWHERE. Yet I never see any of them towing anything... I think that answered. They make a friggin grocery getter. I wouldn't even let my wife drive one.

I have a ford van (i got it really cheap), and I hate it, I can't wait for thaty thing to take a dump so I can buy something nice.

The sad thing is, what I said was the honest to God truth... you ask a question and you're in anything other than a PSD already, then you are automatically flamed. I guess the free thing must allow any degenerate with a computer to post. Luckily over here we have moderators that tkae their job and our trucks seriously. The TDR is definately worth the money. Magazine, Travel Companion, a network of people willing to HELP another in a crisis, and little bickering.

I agree with Reb, the TDR and its members had a lot to do with my purchase of my first Cummins. I have had a 95 stroker and 99 SD stroker. The first was a pretty good truck. The later ran like crap. Test drove a Duramax, POS!!!, all 45 thousand dollars of it. My Cummins yanked my 30 foot Pace tag enclosed trailer with all the goodies inside like nothing, this was stock, no mods. P*** on the 6. 0 rich boys truck. Cummins bad a**, reliable, and definitly worth the cash. Now to figure out how to trick wife into 04 or 05 600:D

Thank goodness that TDR cost money. I can guarantee that I would not be a member if this site was free. :-{} Whats funny is "some" truly believe the 6. 0's are better. Hmmm, don't see many semi's with V-8s. Broader powerband... ... . what a joke!

I have fun messing with them a little over there. I get tired of the "Dodge body is a POS" and "You'll take it in the shorts on resale" so I have fun trying to poke holes in their sacred little Dodge Myths which they cling to so dearly

Yeah, I used to be on there when I owned my 6. 9L. I am now glad I don't hang out there anymore. Most the guys are ok as people, but as soon as a truck/engine debate comes up look out. George C ticks me off the most, thinks his PSD is the highest and mightiest, always exaggerating. Then Kenworth, with everyone else who could be talking about which dog food is best for a 1 year old puppy, somehow manages to bring up Class 8 trucks and why pickups don't compare.

Reading those posts makes me love you guys even more!

By the way, who here has ever wanted to put a 6. 0"no" into a Dodge Ram? Maybe one in a million...

These guys most be making up for something else??? I dont get the comments like: we'll see whos truck is running longer, or, the cummins just cant make the HP the PSD does do to its smaller power band, dude!!! When are you going to get a clue!!

I see someone started another thread with a poll:

"Would you buy a F-350/250 with a New Cummins 600 torque?"

1. I would want a new 600 torque Cummins in a F-350/250 Ford

2. I would not consider the new Cummins and prefer to stick with the ford 6. 0

Results so far:

81 voted Cummins, 25 would stick with the 6. 0 (76% vs 23%)

I would look seriously at a Ford/Cummins combo.

I wouldn't touch a Powerstroke. Not because they're junk but because the Cummins is available and is so clearly superior.

If you guys have never noticed, Ford owners are a different breed of cat.

Been that way as long as I can remember, clear back to Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars.

The Ford kids inisted they had the best, before I even knew there was a difference.

The when real life steps in and WHAPS them upside the head,

all they can muster is "No sir, nu-uh, mine Eff Twee Fiddy is better still. ":D

Nice crew cab fellas, and thats where it ends!!

But you gotta love those guys, it gives us something to do at the track. heheheh.

All I can say is that I am really happy with my truck. I thought about the DMAX when I made my purchase but I didn't even take a look at the Ford. One look under the hood of another guys PS and I said NO WAY! I feel sorry for anyone that has to work on one of those. The sound of the Cummins is so much sweeter to my ear than the PS. I think Nick's (Nploysa) comment was the best:

"who here has ever wanted to put a 6. 0"no" into a Dodge Ram? Maybe one in a million... "

You TDR guys are the best as well.

narrow power band of an I6? what? I'm pretty new here to this site, so I haven't read about those ferd guys that much. How can so many people be so wrong? Have they ever driven an N14? those things have a TON of torque, and i'm a detroit guy. The reason so many people don't tow a lot with a ford is the rear springs flat out suck. they're weak. a guy at work just bought a 02 F250 crew cab 4x4. He had to put airbags in it to pull a 27' trailer. That pi$$ed him off!

Over the road trucks haven't used V8 diesels in years. They don't last as long.

If someone gave me a 6. slow i'd tie a chain to it and use it as a boat anchor.

Only one thing ford has on dodge, their crew cab, it's huge. If dodge built a 4 door that big there would be a lot of converts to dodge. If i could just get that big 4 door with the gen 2 truck style... .

I dont really give a cats butt anymore. I would be happy behind an old idi.

When I was in school the biggest poopy mouthed kids had f series. I owned a few but never really felt the need to talk down the competition. Ive owned far fewer dodge products than ford. Fords overall quality was good but they lost a customer when they dropped the I-6.

I think the super duty is a great truck. Its a matter of taste from there. Ive liked the looks of the dodge since high school. My brother had a f350 v10 sd and I didnt feel all that comfortable in the drivers seat. It towed very well but ate the fuel. Had it in the shop for transmission work 3 times in 50k. Im always amazed how much flack the dodge catches for the trannies. Im from a ford family. We all own or owned many many fords. Weve had our problems, trannies, blown rear ends and seal after seal. They are not immune to failure as some believe but I still think its a solid rig and wouldnt turn my back on a chance to own another.

An old friend of mine called me back in 98. He was a local mechanic his wife was good friends with my mom. He left state to go work for ford in idaho. His job was pullin trannies. He knew I was in the market and wanted to give me a heads up. He called just to tell me whatever I do, do not to buy a PSD. I took his advice. He is a good man and a good mechanic.

Everyone thinks they have the best. Its human nature. It makes us feel better about ourselves. Another part of human nature is to talk down the competition to make oneself feel more important.

I think the 5. 9 is hands down proven to be the longest lasting engine in the light duty market. Thats all I was looking for. Something that will last a long time. I dont care much for hp. This bombing thing took me by suprise. Cheap ponies. Cmon who could pass it up.

The dodge has many good aspects and many problems. I have a track bar going out as we speak. I still like the looks more than any other truck. That new f150 is growing on me though. Ill never buy a half ton but I think ford did well.

I think it was Sleddy that posted on that thread and hit the nail on the head. If Dodge came out with a real crew cab, I'd like to know how much sales would be lost by Ford and Chevy. I bet Dodge Cummins sales would sky-rocket.

One guy at my work bought a chevy 4 door, the other bought a ford 4 door. The guy that bought the chevy misses everything about his dodge. he had a nice 00 4x4 QC. fully loaded, EZ, real nice. but his kids are 6 feet tall, doesn't work to well in the dodge on long trips. He said his 2500 chevy HD isn't nearly as heavy duty as his dodge. Would have bought a dodge, if it was 4 door. The guy that bought the Ford PoSD had a halfton chevy. His kids out grew that so he got the phord. Both have said they would have bought dodge, if dodge had a big 4 door.

HELLO, any dodge engineers- bean counters reading this!!!!

MAKE FULL SIZE 4 door!!! For 6 full size MEN! not soccer moms.
