My 99', for the past few days, has been getting harder to start when it's hot. Never once in the 268K miles has this happened before and no matter if it was hot or dead cold it fired up after a couple cranks. Fuel pressure is 13 at idle and under a heavy load will drop to 10 psi. I have a Watts fuel regulator on the feed line to the VP and it's set to a max of 13 psi. Not trusting the Isspro I checked the fuel pres. with a mechanical gauge and it read the same. I called Cummins Cal Pacific and ordered a return line check valve thinking that may be the cause. I'm reasonably sure, after doing a bleed on a tee fitting that I have just before the IP that isn't the problem. Any ideas, or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

The next time you're having this problem, try swapping out the ASD relay for another non-essential relay (possibly the Wiper relay) found in the PDC (Power Dist. Center) under the hood on the driver's fender and see if that helps.

Good luck,

John L.

I'm beginning to think I got a bad load of fuel, which is really strange, as I almost always use a local Chevron that must pump thousands of gallons of diesel per day. I changed the filters again and swapped a relay as per John L's advice and it's only done it a few times since.
