Any one tried this?

has anyone tried this product? I'm getting ready to go to 35" tires and would like to dail in the odo, been running 285's for the last 150k miles with it off a little, but with 35's it will be way off.

TrueSpeed

Or does anyone else have another solution?

Thanks,

I've always just figured up the difference and made a mental note ;) However, I recently purchased one of these units myself. I called Superlift to ask them a few questions about it and they told me that ALL of the boxes were the same and they would all work on my truck. The tech said that the ONLY difference was the instructions that came along with it. Well got a cheap price on one that had the Ford part # but since SUPERLIFT'S TECH told me it would fit I went ahead and picked it up. When I got home I called Superlift to get the Dodge instructions and when I told him the part # of the one I had he said that it was the ONLY one that would NOT work on my truck  They all look the same so I may go ahead and try it since they won't exchange it (silly me, I opened the plastic)

After this ordeal I will never buy anything from Superlift again but, back to your question... I know 4 or 5 guys that run them that say they work great but the instructions are crap and tell you to splice the wrong color wires.

I agree w/RO'Neal, I'm running approx. 35", so it is simply 1/10th faster than the speedo and 1/10th longer than odom: 60 is 66 mph, 200 mi is really 220. However, I've heard the ABS may not like the larger tires over time. I've had no problems noted after 2 years of this setup.

I know how to calculate the difference, have been doing it for quite a few years on all the trucks I've owned. Most compaines instructions are crap, but that's besides the point. Just wanted to know if anyone has tried the product or knew of any others out there. or knew how to make one, as I'd go that route as well.

Check with Rickson Tires at http://www.ricksontruck.com/ . Click on Speedometer Correction. They sell TruSpeed ($184. 40) as well as the Abbott ERA Electronic Ratio Adapter ($125. 23). TruSpeed is needed with 4W ABS, the Abbott with rear-only ABS. I've no personal experience with either, but in preparation for 35" tires, I called the folks at Abbott. They were very helpful, answered all my questions, and I'm definitely going with the unit. Although it'll likely be several weeks (or more, depending on negotiations with the Chief Acountant;)), I'll let you know about my experience once it's a done thing.

I thought the tire size could be changed in the computer

with a DRB thereby correcting the speedo and odometer. Or doesn't it go up to 35"? Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought I read about this somewhere on the TDR. Checker auto here in town will loan out a DRB scanner for free ($200 deposit).

Excellent question on the DRB. I've heard that they can't calibrate to a 35", but I've not verified with a rock-solid source, so it might be worth giving it a go. Let us know if you get it to work. :)

Morphious - The TruSpeed is a good unit. I installed mine several years ago and it works very well. You can adjust it to be very accurate. The instructions got me to within 1 MPH, and using mile markers I adjusted it to be even more accurate. (Of course GPS would have been great). I was interested in accurate MPH and Miles! The DRB tool will only adjust the computer for tires listed by Dodge. They are listed in the Service Manual.

Thanks for the replies all. I knew that the dealerships couldn't recalibrate the puter since they aren't interested in serving thier customers, and I'm not sure I'd take my truck there even if they could do it. I'm probably going to go with the truespeed and add it to the long list of things to buy when the money is available.
