OK, so I'm making a christmas list and trying to figure out which intake I want. I know everyone is talking about the Scotty II, but personally I don't like the way it looks, or the reports that it's quieter (I like to hear my turbo). I much prefer the looks of the BD Extreme and it certainly looks like it will flow some air.

I searched the forums for "xtream" and found nothing... so I figured I'd post and see what kinds of thoughts fellow members have on this system.

Thanks,

Josh

so... 147 views and not a single reply... does this mean the Xtream2 is a P. O. S. or does it mean people are just too cheap to spend that much on a filter configuration? There's gotta be someone out there that's seen one or owned on... what'ya think about it? Guess I might have to buy one.

Looks like a Stainless version of the AFE kit with a K&N replica of the BHAF. I suspect that the AFE filter would flow more though. The AFE kit is under 200 now..... I think I have seen it go for as little as 165. What does the Extreme run. Other options for intakes besides the two mentioned are Vollant, and K&N Filtercharger.

BTW, if you drill the hole in the cowl for the Scotty II than it will make any of these other intake sound like something grandma would drive. Oh, I believe the Vollant drills into the cowl too. Anyways a intake connected to the cowl will sound like a jet engine in the cab. :D

I must say that the Extreme is trick looking.

hhmmm

Interesting part is that the filter appears to have the BD logo pressed onto it, and BD is a dealer of AFE filters. This being the case, wouldn't you think the filter is probably an AFE, not a K&N? Perhaps I'll call and try to find out. If it is otherwise the same as the AFE, I wouldn't mind paying the $250 asking price in order to get stainless instead of plastic.

It IS AFE

OK, just called BD and they reported that the filter on the Xtream2 is indeed an AFE filter. That's good news to me... so is there any other reason anyone can think of that I wouldn't be happy with this intake system vs. something else like a Scotty or the AFE system? If not, I think I may give it a try...

ordered it!

OK, so I really love the looks of this Xtream2 and think it will perform well, and I don't want to be another lemming with just a BHAF, so I ordered one! ;) When it gets here I'll be sure to give everyone a full report of what I find.

I think it is one of the best looking filter systems I have seen. I have looked at all the others and I think I will get one of the BD's also. Don't want no ugly filter!
