Best gas grill?

Stupidity at its finest

Some of my buddies in Iraq had ACOGs and I wasn't a big fan of them, or the AimPoints either. The only upside to them over my Leopold CQT was that Uncle Sam paid for them, were I had to buy my Leopold:(

I'm no big fan of AimPoint CompM2 aka M68 CCO, preferring instead the L3 EOTECH Holosite. Much quicker target acquisition. The Eotech's downside is the controls. I saw some guys who had an ACOG on the upper, and an EoTech on the dominant hand siderail, which I thought was a slick setup. You'd have to zero the EoTech separately from the ACOG and BUIS (back up iron sights or flip-ups). Use the Holosite in a rapid transition to a close-in target acquisition with just a twist of the rifle to the side. Better yet, get the Docter site for the ACOG. It's like a mini Holosite that mounts on the roof of the ACOG.

The Docter sight FINALLY has a US distributor again.

I have the Aimpoint on my AR's right now, with the cantilever mount.

I'm not shooting for my life, just poppin steel targets.

I heard a lot of the HSLD types like the ACOG/Docter combo on top of the H&K 416.

The sierra 155 may be a bit much for the Grendel. I did however notice at least one company making Grendel barrels in two twists. 1-7. 5" and 1-9".

Kinda makes you go... . hummmmm. :D

I've long thought a Rem model 7 with a FAST TWIST barrel in 260 would be the I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER. :D 1-6. 5" to 1-7. 5" was what I've been lamenting... ...

I forgot about the Eotech... didn't get much experience with one, but definitely liked better than the aimpoint and the ugly azz ACOG. I just wish my CQT had a lower profile, but at least its variable power. I like the option of some magnification, unlike the Eotech or Aimpoint, though, they do have a faster target aquisition. Though, I played around a few times and mounted the CQT on my 240B, and that was fun too. Wasn't much good at full auto, but if you could finger the trigger just enough to get one round to fire out of the belt it was hella accurate for a machinegun. I could hit siloettes with one round out to around 700 yards, anything farther and I just let 'er rip:D

JFlagg: You can get magnifiers for both the Aimpoint and the EoTech now, in 3 and 4 power. They have mounts for them that allow them to be quickly flipped out of the way. An EoTech M557 with 4x magnifier and a QD "flip-to-side" mount is about $1100. I would prefer if the magnifier was on the business end, so you didn't have to flip it out of the way. Reflex Collimating/Holographic type scopes don't even have to be open at the business end of the rifle. You can fire both eyes open with the barrel end covered completely if you want/need to.

I have lots of experience with the EOTech, particularly mounted to Rock River UTE2 upper receivers. It's a great set up, co-witnesses nicely and you have the iron sights as back up if needed.

Me, personally: I would be preferential to an AR produced by RRA, Armalite, Stag or Bushmaster, in that order. I have a Stag and an Armalite. Stag produces the M&P15 for S&W.

I have heard guys say, if you are in the market for an AR-15 one word: Colt.

My buddy bought a Stag Arms & I like it.

Colt makes a good AR-15 but their customer support is poor. They're mostly concerned with their military contact and seem to care less about the rest of us. Rock River makes a good rifle as do others. I just happen to have alot of experience shooting with both Colt and Rock River rifles.

I have talked to the co-owner (Chuck Larsen) of Rock River several times and I believe they make a good product. Not to mention they have a reputation for good customer support.

water-cooled full auto...

Hey guys,

I see that some full auto guns are military uses have water cooled barrels? What is the purpose? To cool the barrel?

Yesterday I had the pleasure of firing my first AR-15. Wow! I really want one now. We were at a range off the 210 freeway in So. Cal. called Angeles Shooting Range(nice place btw). They had steel targets out to 700yards. Well, I couldn't see those but I was able to nail the 600 a bunch. It was nice.

The rifle is from a place in Taft CA. It has a real nice Nikkon Scope(6 power). Bull Barrel, ect. I don't know much about these rifles, yet.

Now to start saving my pennies.

Ya, How about that, you cant even own a 50 cal. in Ca. You can thank Hillary Clinton for that one

Nope it wasn't Hillary although she's always suspect in our gun laws. The person who banned the Barrett 50 cal. was our liberal, wolf in sheeps clothing govenor "Arnold". He signed the ban the first time they placed it in front of him. Gray Davis a liberal democrat who was the previous govenor didn't sign the 50 cal. ban even though it was brought before him 3 times.

Thanks to Arnold we have no 50 cals.

That's cause he prefers the M60, haven't you seen his movies? :-laf Or maybe he is getting a little old and flabby and can't lift a . 50 anymore... :rolleyes:if he can't have one, no one will!#@$%!

I have heard guys say, if you are in the market for an AR-15 one word: Colt.

And they like to pay for them, apparently. Armalites, Stags, Bushies and RRAs are as good or better, and you aren't paying for the horse logo. I won't get into other brands, as all ARs are not equal. If you get a Bushie, you'll want a better trigger, as even Bushie fans will often tell you. Our State Marksmanship training section guys swear by RRAs, and Armalites are high on their list as well.

Bottom line, Colt versus Clones, do you want an heirloom gun, or a top-notch performer? I bought a pair of Series 70 Reissues for heirloom guns. That's different, especially since they were going to a custom 'smith. I'm not going to pay for a name to do a potentially life-or-death job that Armalite or RRA (etc) can do just as well or better for perhaps less money. I have no patience for [insert sentimental name brand] is better "just because," because, in all truth, that's the only thing the "COLT-only" folks have to go on in the AR market, or any modern firearm market where the product has someone's life depending on it. They're no better than AR or RRA.

CMMG is another good brand.

I like Colt's barrels. They shoot good, and last long. I'm sure some crappy parts get by the inspectors here & there... . with ALL brands.

Barrels:

I perfer in order,

Noveske 17-7 stainless (Be ready with your plastic)

Sabre defence chrome lined

Colt

Uppers:

Alcoa forge

Lowers:

Noveske

LMT

SDM

RRA

Colt (if theyre still using the funky pins, I wouldnt take one)

Trigger:

RRA 2 stage NM

This is for an all around plinking type rifle. Of course I'd go with the Krieger barrel if I was building a DCM gun.
