While a Japanese company, the transmissions are built in Indiana, and the data plate on the side says Made in USA. Ram has to buy them not make them, and that also adds to cost. The Aisin weighs 160 lb. more than the 220 or so of the Chrysler 68RFE, so it is obviouslyu beefy. Pronounce it eye-sin.
 
Yes, it is worth it. I read once somewhere here that they are rated for 1200 ft/# and 425hp, which for once is not maxed out behind the Cummins. For once the transmission isn't the limiting factor in the engine's power levels.

Has anyone got any specs on the new 69 aisin?{input/output shaft size, num. of disk in torque} Seen them on the 68 but not the 69. just curious what all they changed.
