Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) ATS 5 Star unlocking

I was driving to work the other day, and my TC unlocked around 75 MPH, I have an ATS 5 star w/ controller and was in overdrive at the time, I checked the controler and I'm pretty sure the lock up light was on but I was FREAKED OUT and can't be sure ! I held throttle as if it wa still locked up and the speed was decreasing to around 60, So I pulled over and checked the fluid and everything was fine ! I then continued on to work about another 100 miles and it was fine !! WTF??? WHAT DO i NEED TO CHECK OR REPLACE ???

Lockup and OD is controlled by the PCM. It didn't like something it saw or thought it was supposed to be unlocked. Could be a solenoid failing also.

This 'feature' of the auto trans is one I have experienced about once every 40k miles, all on long drives. Hasn't happened since the DTT rebuild a few years back. Don't worry about it unless it occurs frequently.

If it really bothers you, install a 'mystery switch' to keep to converter locked.
