The VP44 should be good for a whale of a lot more than 50K miles. It should go farther than the old VE did, and some of those made 400K miles or more. But about this 12V / 24V thing... There's nothing like more valves to get more air through. We bombed a 2K to 300+ HP, if you believe the HP numbers calculated from speed, and it did NOT smoke. The ISB is awesome. It takes a lot more work to get that 300 HP from the 12V engine and NOT smoke at all. All we did is swap external parts, plug in wires, and BAM! POWAH! Nothing quite like it ya know!

Mine has two batteries and it has 12 volts.

EZ94,
How about a group purchase from Cummins so you all can join in with the 'overvalved'...

Enough of you get together and you can buy a truckload of real ISB's with both 50 pin connectors..... #ad

Dave:

Nah, think I'll pass on your idea. I'm told owning an ISB is like driving a PC("Where do you want to go today"?). Thanks for the invite, though!

And I slept right through all this fun - Anyone want to trade their 12v for my 24v? Serious offers for like vehicles only

Do you call yourselves Dodge/cummins lovers?
I'm sure your friends and co-workers are impressed with you when you start bashing another Dodge truck. Besides, when was the last time you saw a 94+ 12v with a million miles AND its original pump?

I last saw a million mile Ram last week at Towbin Dodge in Henderson NV, in the showroom. Hood wasn't up to check the pump. It was a 1994 model, emerald green. Guy, lets not do any bashing. Funnin' is different. And, no thin skins, please. I expect any of us would rather drive a Cummins powered Ram than anything else. I'd even double my valves before looking at a furd. #ad

I need some more popcorn cuz this show is great. I had a 90 Ram and sold it with over 450,000 miles on it. It actually had a pump failure at 700 miles and as far as I know, it still has the same getrag trans in it and the same pump and its over 800,000 miles now!
It had a turbo replaced twice. The interior had parts replaced too. Repainted once.
But the engine was not opened up yet!

Now, theres a 24V that does car hauling between Edm and Calgary and Vancouver... it has 365,000 kilometers on the original pump.
IT was the main reason I ordered my 98 24V.
For you folks south of the 49th or guys like me that prefer Miles... that is about 229,000 miles.

Take a guess what he has had the most trouble with on that truck. Its a 5 spd 3500 quad 4x2 354 LSD.

Aw shucks, You guys went and made friends while I was sleepin and workin. Damn, and I had all these good one liners thought up about the old iron. Oh well, I'll save them for later. Yes I would drive a 12 v before a Ford, but only if it had 4 doors!! A bit of spirited conversation always does me good. Hell yes Im smilin. They are all good, mine's just better.

Hi, Just wanted to jump in on the fun.....

I have the 12 big valves, so why would I need 24 smaller valves ? How many valves/cyl came in the Hemi engine ?

Seems like Cummins made history with its 12V B series 5. 9, Your fancy ISB had nothing to do with it ! The ISB history is still questionable.

Well, all in fun right ? Will we come together when the all new 2002 Cummins is put in the Ram ? Of course we will !!!!

Keep in touch, RonL

Since you mentioned Gas... muahahahah w/ the HEMI crack...

Take a look at what is on top today...

There is not a single 2v/cylinder in the ranks of 0-60mph, 1/4 mile, or Top Speed.

Lamborghini
Ferrari
Vector
McLaren
etc... .

Here's a good reference... look around if ya like.

the list goes on...
THE ONLY AREANA I AM AWARE OF WHERE TWO VAVLES HAS PROVEN SUPERIOR IN MODERN MOTORSPORTS, WHERE RULES ALLOW A CHOICE, IS IN DRAG RACING, WHERE RPM's, LIFT AND DURATION APPROACH EXPLOSIVE.
(How far ya wanna pull that pin out... ?)

The 12v has proven itself, and we're all aware of that. I just do see a reversion to 12v's in the future. Multiple valves have proven themselves superior in the majority of other venues and have the potential to do the same in the oil burning ranks as well. (low RPM's, Forced Induction, efficiency at low rpms... lot of favorable conditions for multi valve supremacy)
