Lost oil pressure the other day, freaked out, immediatly pulled over and had it towed to dealer. (Removed VA) Went in and talked to service dept. for repair, they said it's probably the sender since it did not automatically shut the engine down. I never heard of such a redundant safety switch, have you???

Ended up being the sender switch, made sure they would not be doing a ECM reflash, and had my leaky front axle seal repaired at the same time. They got me for $613. 00, no warranty on oil senders!

Guess I should have been reading up on the sender problems, now I want to install a REAL oil guage in case it happens again so I can know for sure.

Oh by the way, I changed my weak lift pump a week ago and they would not warranty that either since a dealer did not do the repair. I still have the old pump and could have just swapped for a new one, yea right. Guess I just got burned every which way!

:mad:

DC charged you $613 for a sening unit:eek: Cripes guys, we are all in the wrong bussiness. I want to be an OEM supplier now. :mad: How can they justify that amount of money. If I charged my customers like that, I'd be hung out and beat before they jailed me for theft. :mad:

Arrrrggggggggggggggggg:mad:

It must have been $613. 00 for the whole job, please tell us.

At That price I will find an aftermarket place and replace it myself if it ever goes out.

are you still a little chapped around the ring? or did they at least offer vasoline?? That one is ridiculous... and then they get mad when we use the s word to refer to them. . What was the name of the dealership? Post it so we know to avoid them!

Worked for me no probs scince

How much was for the leaky axle seal? 600. 00 I hope

The $613 was for everything, both the sender and the axle seal.

$ 308. 91 sender job

$ 279. 16 seal job

$ 25. 00(shop supplies) to wipe off the dirt w/ their rag, and hang a repair tag on the rearview mirror.

The safety shutoff thing I figured was a bogus statement but I'm not supposed to be the expert. I could just imagine driving down the highway at 75mph and the motor dies along with power steering and brakes. Sound like somebody could get killed, and somebody could get sued. :rolleyes:

:rolleyes: No way does the engine shut down. I had a drain plug come out on parkway left lane at 70 mph went to zero oil pressure and had to open hood to shut down engine due to turbo cool down device. Needed to pull a fuse to stop the engine. I was lucky I did not fry the engine in that 60 to 90 second time it took to get over and engine stopped. There was no engine oil pressure lost shut down.
