not that it has been happening with my current truck but something that has nagged me from my last truck... truck was a 1995 3500 dually 2x4. Trans would hunt about 200 RPM with cruise on or off at highway speeds. Any ideas?

Throttle position sensor could have noise causing the torque converter to lock and unlock erratically. Could be as easy as cleaning it or adding a noise filter on the converter lock wire

sorry to bring this up again but it is now happening with my current truck now. I have an automatic and as I go down the highway my auto trans hunts about 200 RPM back and forth. Any suggestions of where to look?

Mine did the same, replaced TPS, nothing changed, after alot of reading, I realized that if the trans temp. is to low or high trans. will not shift to overdrive. After realizing this I focused on thew trans temp sender, cleaned connection at the sender, which is located on the overdrive unit, my problem was solved, hope this helps.

Is it the converter unlocking & relocking? if so a good freind of mine ran into this problom with his 00 24v auto and bleave it or not we ended up wraping tin foil around the alt. wiring and presto no more TCC hunting. Once that was figured out a new alt fixed the whole problom. It sounds weird but worked for him, it makes cents to having off the wall RF. from the alt.

Remove the battery charging wire from the factory harness and route it seperately away from any of the control harnesses. To get rid of the problem of noise in the system you have to remove the source.
