automatic trans problem (TPS) Help

Hi guys , Im thinking my TPS is going out . Does anyone know if they go out alittle at a time or all at once or both? Mine seems like it is trying to warn me but Im not sure if Im smart enough to relize it. Sometimes while it is up shifting from 3rd to overdrive it seems like it down shifts then I let off the foot feed and it goes in gear and its ok till the next time it says help or look Im being bad. pretty common problem, some have had good luck rapping on the TPS while working the throttle back and forth, might dislodge any contamination and correct the problem. Check/clean your connections. There are some posts on setting the TPS and checking voltages... . do a search. There are also instructions for taking apart TPS and cleaning on here too. I was having erratic 3-4 shift, turned out to be the mechanical connection where the TPS fits in at the top of the pump, there was lots of slop, replacing the female half of the connection tightened up the connection and cured problem...

What does your TPS rewire kit do?

Have you used it on a first gen truck already?

There are a lot of us automatic guys that might be interested as all TPS's act up sooner or later.

yep. works on 1st and 2nd gen. it is a kit that rewires your existing tps out of the wiring harness outside of the existing loom. the tps usually acts up from noise in the wiring harness.
