Sorry, I was only looking at Longhorns, and didn't pay any attention (the electric transfer case shifter has been the only option on Laramies, all the way back to my '03).

Thanks and understood, but my 04 SLT has the manual shift transfer case. I like a lot of the features of the mid-level trim Rams, and I don't want to get a base model just to get the manual.

Heck, as recent as last year, you could order any level trim Ford with the manual.

You guys that have gone through the ordering process: any indication as to the availability of a manual transfer case in any trim level above base?

I went thru the ordering process and have some printed info... As far as I know, the Manual T-Case is only available on the low end trim. Once you it the SLT, it's the electronic transfer case.

BTW, I wanted the manual T-Case because when I throw the lever, I know it's in 4WD. The electronic ones always have me wondering... . But I wasn't about to get the Tradesman just for that...

Sigh... shame.

I know what you mean, the 2500 Laramie is the first 4x4 I've owned with electric transfer case. I was a little leery but I'm getting to like the fact that I can put the truck in 4wd anytime I want, even on dry pavement. The other day I put it in 4wd in a torrential rainfall while driving home in traffic. With a manual transfer case I would have waited until the next red light.

My manual is shift on the fly, I believe up to 55 mph. But I'd never shift when going that fast.
