I'm wanting to go to a tire that's wider than stock. Specifically, the section width of the new tire is 12" vs. the stock 10. 4". I've been looking for a wheel with the stock 6. 1" backspacing (XD Series Hoss is the only thing I've found that comes close), but should I compensate for the 1. 6" difference in the section width by moving to a 5. 3" backspace wheel?

If it matters, I'm wanting to switch from the Michelin LTX 265/70/17 on stock rims to the Toyo Proxes S/T 305/60/18's on 18x9 rims. I've got a stock height 2WD and I would like to avoid lifts if it all possible, but I'm willing to put a levelling kit in if I absolutely have to.

I have 325/60R18's on Eagle 114 18x9. 5's (6" backspacing). They are a little wider than the tire you're looking at (13. 5" wide) and are 33" tall. . I have no rubbing at all and I have no lift. Pics in my Gallery.

Thanks, but being a 4x4 you have some lift relative to my 4x2. Unfortunately, the 2WD guys don't seem to do as much with their wheels and suspensions, so good information is hard to come by.
