At Advance, I was told to scan my receipt as a JPG or PDF since the prorate term is 7 years and the thermal-paper register receipt is likely to fade or get lost by the end of the warranty. Apparently such a receipt copy is all they need.
Told somewhat the same thing at Walmart, the receipts do fade over time. He said take a picture of it .
I think getting back to this receipt thing, to rely on a vendor honoring a warranty on anything, and you can't prove , prove of purchase how do really expect them to honor it. I don't buy the fact because you have a date stamp on a battery they will honor it. Its stated on Costco's warranty , as well as Napa , "ORIGINAL OWNER", again prove of purchase, not just a stamped battery in hand .
Napa batteries all you need is a valid stamped battery code , and they will replace it if it falls under the warranty time, not true, and if you read their warranty you will see , and I quote " The seller Warrants to the original purchaser that this Napa battery , when equal to or exceeding the manufacturers recommended size and capacity for the vehicle in which it is used , its free of defects in material and workmanship . Selling Warrantor is to complete and present the Limited Warranty Tear-off Form ( attached to or enclosed in each battery ) to the Purchaser at the time of sale."
Two things here one Original purchaser, and the second , the tear off form. Sure sounds to me like you better have that form in your hand whether you are at the original place of purchase or a thousands miles away, so yes you better carry it in the truck . If the vendor out of the kindness of his heart wants to honor the warranty great, but if he wants that form, sure sounds to me like you better have it, or at least the receipt .
The two gentlemen here on this thread also need to educate themselves on battery warranties , that they so freely give to others .
