Battery suggestions ..... on a budget please...

4 years out of cheap batteries is pretty good I've got some car quest that are only 2 years Old and they are bad

A single Group 31 1150CCA Odyssey 2150 does the job for me these past few years.

I replaced my still-hot original batteries after 7 years with Interstates and just replaced them after 7 years (getting weak) with another set of Interstate MTP-65, 850CCA, 1000 CA, RC 150 batteries. (178k on my sig truck.) Local shop charged me just under $300 (tax inc) for 'em. I have had much better service out of Johnson Controls (Interstate, Walmart, Costco (?), and others) than any other brand on tractors, trucks, cars and mowers. I get the terminals clean and bright and tight and smeared with Vaseline and maybe wipe 'em off every year or so, and, if they need it, re smear 'em. These should make 7 years, if God holds the world together.

FWIW: I replaced the original batteries on mine (99) in 04 with Wally Mart ones I think they're "MAXX" (always replaced both batteries at same time) then again in 2010, and most recently in 2016. So I'm getting 6-ish years out of them and I rarely plug in the block heater. I'm pleased with their performance and longevity. A note: In Dec. 2016 I replaced battery on my wife's 01 V-70 XC Wally Mart, same brand, this past Jan. (2018) the car began slow crank to start. Read battery, low volts, took out returned to Wally Mart "no charge", as it should be. Like I said, pleased with these MAXX batteries.

I replaced my oem batts in 2013 (Im told they are interstates) only because they were 12 years old so I thought it was a good idea (they were still very strong) I replaced them with interstates that I got from interstate not costco. Interstate told me the batts that costco sells are made for costco and are not the same batt you get from interstate. They are now 5 years old and going strong.

I installed them 12/12 @128K miles.
4 years and only 13K miles.
Could have....should have been a bit longer. But cheap is cheap.....

With that time and low mileage do you use a battery conditioner when the truck is not being used ?. I assume it sits by the mileage unless you use it every day and drive 5 miles :-laf. I use a Battery Tender on mine which definately helps the longevity as the truck may sit for weeks.

Exide makes the John Deere batteries but I don't think they are as good as they once were

My brother just replaced the battery in his Deere tractor. It was 9 years old and still working.
He said the new one spun quicker than the old one, it was however NOT dead.
IDK what he replaced it with.

I've been running my 1995 truck on 1 group 31 battery for about 15 years. Put a air compressor in the passenger side battery box. No problems ever. We camp every fall in Colorado at 9,500' and have no battery issues starting at 0 degrees.

I do live in the South where the normal low winter temps "may" hit single digits every other winter so no extreme winter weather.

If I'd used the 95 the 4 winters I worked in NW North Dakota I would have gone back to 2 batteries.

2 - DECCA 1000 CCAs After trying multiple Brands, DECCA seemes to be superior. I have a John Deere 730 Diesel w/Electric Starter and they start that Tractor also when its Cold (0-deg F.) I do plug in block heater on tractor because its a Bear to start in Cold Weather.

I just replaced 2 batterys in my dodge 2500 and 4 batterys in my Mack R600 i bought Interstste recon batterys @ $50 each all 6 batterys are group 31
The owner of the interstate dealership gave me a 1 year warranty instead of the normal 6 months [emoji3]
