Stakeman... .
I'll not say the Duramax will not ever beat a Dodge on a dragstrip because any true racer knows when its his day to be beaten he will be(Force & WJ today in Memphis are 2 very good examples of this) and not matter what numbers the ATS Duramax has run it will not scare off a racer.
See,E. T. to me is a relative number only and can be made by may ways,BUT,there are two very different and distinct ways to do it. One way is to have all the power your wallet can muster in the motor/driveline and hope that you can have enough chassis to make it run the incrementals to deliever the E. T. s you seek. OR,to have a relatively moderate motor and chassis combo that flat hooks or will hook on banana peels(slick tracks) and make it run the same incrementals and E. T. s by using a progressive power application that will be not able to produce wheelspin but will produce the numbers down track.
That 13. 6,while it is a nice deal for a relatively "bone stock or not many mods"Duramax, did it happen because of the power it made,or did it happen because it made the best numbers progressively down the ENTIRE 1/4 mile stretch. Without seeing the incrementals for this trip or his others he made that night and me only knowing what we have already seen in Duramax's and what i know from my racing,I'd have to say it was moderate power and good hook nite with the Duramax able to run the number by its inability to overpower the track.
So are we suposed to fear this almighty 13. 6 machine, nope. Respect the owners for the numbers they have made with it ,yes. Be interesting to see what the ATS group can muster out of the Duramax... ... . Andy
