Well, I just got done doing something with my block heater plug on my 2nd gen. I was tired of it hanging out there in the weather, so I grabbed some parts I had laying around and made it better than stock.

I used a cheap 3 prong plastic plug, and an RV trailer plug. ($7 at Wally world. )

I just removed the guts from the RV unit and slid the plug inside. I marked thru the keeper holes and predrilled the plug a little so the keeper screws held it in.

Then I cut out the top of a 5 gallon pail, 5" x5", and hole sawed a 2" hole in it, centered verticely, and 2" in from the left side. I had to trim about 1/4" off the bottom, and round the left corners. There is a notch in the top about 1/4" deep, visible in the pics, where it locks in.

Don't mind that nasty cut in the notch, I was using large tin snips.

Here it is with the plug in the plate.

And now it's all screwed in, and plugged in! Much better than before, when it was hanging out of the hole!

Thanks Harvey! I just whipped it up from used parts laying around. I can replace it with new for about $10, can't beat that!

Kudos PToombs. A handy, practical and economical solution using your "thinker". Will definitely keep this in mind for mine...
