we just upgraded my friends '03 TST box with the early twins program last night ...

all i can say is wow ... :--)

with just a box, exhaust and intake this thing will flat fly ...

it will make 12psi boost just revving in neutral ...

it really hammers that little hy ...

it hits harder than any 24 valve with comparable mods i've ever rode in

don't know why they do but i think the CR's will spool turbos much quicker than ANY of the previous motors ... (he says putting on his flame suit)

Yeah CR's will spool much faster because the turbo is much smaller then compared to the 24V's. The bad thing there so small they get cooking really easy, really fast and have been knower to blow up with the TST twins, so watch out. The TST twins program should NOT be used on a stock turbo. Your friend will have major problems sooner or later. Didnt you read the box on the TST the twins flash is only for bigger and tougher turbos.

I would try just the cp3mod with the stock sticks the reason is that the stage 2 only flows 30 percent more and i would think that big injectors would just put you right back to where you were. I might be wrong has anyone heard of a truck with a stage 2 cp3 and factory injectors i think that is what im gonna do next pulling season.

thats a very good combo thats good for a lot of duration Oo.

My truck is the exact same way. Without tq man my 60 fts are 1. 69-1. 75, but the top end sucks.

With tq man my 60ft's suck bad but the top end has alot more power.

I think the main reason is we are draining the rail early and it can never pick back up. Hopefully my cp3 mod will fix that Oo. What do you guys think?

thats whats happening the cp3 is out of steam, you need to buy a modded cp3.

Dan

The cr's ability to spool up faster is NOT due to turbo size.

Cr's can spool very large turbo's alot easier than 2nd gens without big injectors to boot.

I will be very interested to see what your truck does with the cp3 because we are set up pretty close to the same. I think it will help some but right now I think that it is programing that is holding us back. We need more Fuel more RPM'S and TM delete. And to be able to adjust these parameters to fit our individual trucks.

Over all it is probably cheaper to build a CR because they will spool a big turbo easier then a 24 valve . Most of the guys I know that are going fast with the 24 valves are running twins so they can spool them. The cost of the twins set up alone is a huge difference . But as always it all depends on how fast you want to go !!!

... . I believe 24V do better in slead pulling as they can turn 4,000rpm and nobody has been able to pass 3,500 on a CR. .

A large can of ether will take care of the RPM problem..... once anyway. :-laf

I dunno there Toolman (NO I AM NOT TALKING TO MYSELF) On a CR you can light it off quick but then when the rail empties (As it will or you wouldn't have a big turbo) you start to #@$%! #@$%! 'Cause I know I will some day :-laf :-laf

yes i know how to read ...

he is in the market for a bigger turbo now, if we did everything the manufacturers recommend we wouldn't bomb in the first place ...

and the turbos is the same size as my '01 ... which wouldn't show any boost in neutral with a drag comp and stage 4 jammers ...

as i said before ... the same mods in a 3rd gen will result in better results

CR is the future, and when the ability to rev to 4000 to 5000 is a reality, the P-pump will be a thing of the past. The CR truck we ran this week is a dream to drive, no smoke, no lag, no bad manors, just a super truck. One of our fellow competitors drove it to, get parts for another competitor, and when he returned he compared it to his own ride.

a GT40 .

One of the positive aspects of this week is that the public and Hot Rodders in general had a complete attitude change about diesel performance , the biggest complaint was smoke , and lag , a well built CR truck will alleviate most of those concerns . I drove Project X over 3800 miles averaging over 22+ MPG , this included over 30 hard passes in the high 11’s and low 12’s along with a boat load of Magazine people , and other competitors flogging it on parts runs , we were popular in that respect. The truck weighs 6388 with driver, and will with the second stage on will easily get you tossed out of the track for no cage. We made 5 round robin passes in the last 45 mins , trying to ge a time slip on 11. 88 to 11. 90 , to round up the numbers , ever time I would dump at the first MPH cone and get a 11. 84 , which would make our average to fast .

yea i was asked to chip in on the project X truck but brady and barry talked me out of it. ;) im glad to hear you guys got it all figured out... ... ...

I agree, no doubt as technology advances on the CR engines they will surpass the 24 valvers. The missing link is adequate fuel supply for the engine at higher boost/RPMs. Once a pump comes out that can accomodate that, look out. Excellent discussion on this topic boys, I know this is on many people's minds.

industrial injection has their "grand poobah" pump that flows something like 230% of what the factory cr pump does ...

saw one on the dyno at reedsville ... he was in the process of working the bugs out but it definitely flows :--)
