Boy, is this getting COMPLICATED. I ordered the EZ from usdiesel, when it came there was no new Elbow, or anything extra and I installed it as told. Now some are saying in order to lower the EGTs I must change the boost elbow and disable the wastegate?? If you disable the wastegate wont it spin off into oblivion? Isn't the purpose of the wastegate to "save" the turbo from spinning to mach 20??I guess you'd get more boost, right into the stratosphere? Could the EGTs be high because its such a new engine? Will the boost increase as I get more miles on it. The truck only has 2800 miles on it. Jeez, if I have to start modifying the exhaust and all that other stuff, why don't they tell you all that you must do before you order the EZs, ?? Is this too a conspiracy??What does high EGT temps do, anyway?Doesn't a diesel LOVE high temps, except for,of course, the auto trans.

Since you finally mentioned you have the auto, then no you wouldn't get an elbow with your EZ box, you can't use it. You need to use one of the many mehods available to delay the wastegate from opening. A spring method is simple and popular as is the turnbuckle. Do a search and you'll find all sorts of ideas. Its not as complicated or as hard as you think.

OK Hemi, take a deep breath ;) It's an easy situation to understand and solve. First, the EZ adds extra fuel over and above stock. Extra fuel creates more power which is good, but also creates more heat which isn't good. You need more boost (more air) to help counter the effect of the extra fuel and heat. So you need more boost than stock. So, with your turbo, you have a solid tube that activates the waste gate meaning that you can not use the boost elbow to simply restrict the airflow along this tube. You need to restrict the movement of the wastegate mechanism mechanically. As Kat suggested, do a search on HY-35 or wastegate or turnbuckle. There are even some diagrams posted to show you exactly what to do. Good luck and don't forget you're infected with the BOMBing bug now and it won't be long before you'll start mumbling words like injectors, propane, nitrous, HX-40, DTT and your credit card gets hotter than your EGT's. :D

just put a loop in the wastgate dump tube and use a zip tie to pinch it off.

problem solved

High EGT are not a problem till you hit 1350 for a little while, then your pistons turn to jello

He has a hard lined waste gate.......

No can tie in knots.

I used a turnbuckle and a spring to delay mine but not totally disable it. I can get 32# of boost out of mine. E-mail me and I'll let you know how I did it, pretty simple actually.

Pops right off too if you need to go to the dealer. With my EZ and DD2's I have a hard time pushing 1200° and thats with a 10K lb. truck.

I got a modified wastegate actuator from a fellow member (thanks Tim). I get 34 psi when I nail it.

This has more work to it than does the turnbuckle method. I believe this kit came from Banks. All it is is a small hole in the hard line and bushing type piece inside the hard line that reduces then inside diameter to about 1/16"

Just another option, But I was going to use a turnbuckle until Tim gave me his actuator
