remember that you need some axial comliance. If you have a double ujoint then you need the slider to move for that. If you have the rag coupling, then that will allow enough axial movement.

The bearings cannot handle the axial movement on their own. . they will fail.

What is the definition of "axial movement" and "axial compliance



Meaning they must be able to change length slightly as the vehicle flexes.

Just guess but might be up to 1/8 on a 2wd, 1/4 inch on a 4wd... during normal operation of the vehicle... more if you are off roading.
