My driver side brake line is somehow rubbing on the inside of the tire. Stock wheels and tire size. When I turn the wheel either way I can't see how it would be possible for the line to rub the tire as it appears to be where it's supposed to be, yet the inside of the tire has rub marks and the line itself is rubbed at two different angles clear down the the inner threads. Could it be that the line is flexing when I hit the brakes? Is this something that Dodge should cover as it is an obvious safety issue? The truck is a 99' cummins 4X4 quad. Thanks for any insight... Joe

I remember when I had my 95 that on the drivers side rear the parking brake cable was rubbing on the tire. I just put a cable tie on it to pull it away from the tire. I would take yours back to the dealer. Put the pressure on them. Throw a fitOo. if you have too. Don't take no for an answer. If you have to drag whoever owns/runs the dealership out there and point it out to them.

:) :) Had that problem with my truck. Found when I did a front brake job let the caliper get loose and sort of dropped it. The brake line caught it and bent the support for the brake line at the frame. That let the brake line be in a different angle and let the brake line rub the tires on turns. Rebent them back straight and the problem went away. Replaced one line due to the rubbing . Oo. Oo.

The "TSB" is really Recall 971 and is applicable to the first two months of model year 2000 Rams according to information on the Dave Fritz site. When was your 1999 truck built?

Edit: The NHTSA site shows the recall covering Rams with 4-wheel ABS manufactured 07/1999-09/1999. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 01V038000

Cardoc hit the nail on the head...

I looked at the support bracket on both sides and the problem side bracket is bent down slightly. I bet this cures it. Thanks to all... Joe
