I was wondering if nybody knew what the bais for the Brake Proportion Valve for disk/drum and for disk/disk trucks.

I just installed an 02 D80 disk replacing my 01 D70 drum and I am thinking about replacing the brake proportion valve. However if they have the same bias no sence in changing them.

I have also thought about bypassing the factory valve and installing an inline adjustable valve.

any thoughts?

Thank you

Brian

Proportioning valve

My 01. 5 does not seem to have one.

My friend which has a 98 removed his proportioning valve per the TSB, bought the bypass part from dealer and his rear brakes now work great. If you do the math on the 75% of GVW it includes just about every truck.

Hope this helps.

This procedure should only be performed on 2500 series 4x4 vehicles that are continuously operated at 75% or greater GVW and have had their rear suspension altered. The bulletin describes a procedure the dealer should follow in the removal of a rear height sensing proportioning valve. Removal of the proportioning valve should help prolong front brake life.

This is for the valve located in the rear of our trucks. I am refering to the valve just downstream of the master cylinder.
