:mad: I was walking past the rear of my truck yesterday, when I noticed the tailgate side of the passenger side tail light was sticking out farther than normal.

:--) I looked closer and pulled on the fixture to see that the two plastic brackets, which mount it to the body were broken?? I am thinking it came from the dealer this way, as my truck has had no impacts or anything that would cause this. There are no visible marks that someone hit it, it would have to be a pretty tall vehicle to hit the light, and certainly would have left a mark?

:{ What do you guys think my chances are of getting this cover under warranty?????? I plan on heading to a dealer close to my office at lunch.

Took the rig to my local dealer. Service manager said, :confused: "Hmmmm, I ain't nver seen nutti'n like dat ba-fer". Slight exaggeration on his 5 star english.

Anyway, he ordered my up a new one under warrantly, said it will be about a week :( , so my $40K truck will have a loose tail light for a week, which I'll have to stop from flopping around with some black electrical tape, in order to keep the sharp inner edge from scratching the paint on my box :{

It's cool they're covering it under warranty, they could have blamed it on me and said I had to pay for it, which would have led me to be very upset.

You've got one of the few good dealers out there. Would you care to give them some free advertising here and let us know who they are?

Not sure where your are from... . but if you are from the Cold Like Me don't try replacing a tail light when it is -20. The plastic is very brittle and will crack up under the slightest pressure.

Luckily (or not so lucky) I was replacing the whole lens assembly after I backed into a fence post (Darn Trucks are Tall!). However when I tried taking the bulbs out of the back everything just started cracking up on me.

Next time (if there is one) I will attempt it in the Garage after things have warmed up.

The dealer was Downer Grove Dodge, in a far West suburb of Chicago. Thumbs up to them for taking care of a loyal DC customer.

Thanks for the advice, but not a chance. I live in Chicago, and the last thing we worry about in August is cold weather. I may have to hang the assembly upside down to drain all the water out from our 90% humidity.

BTW, went to my local NAPA and told them I needed to replace a tail light assembly, so I would need a quart of Mopar equivalent Turn Signal fluid, preferrably synthetic and that I might as well pick up a set of plugs while I was in there, heard the Split Fires are good for 20 hp?They just kinda looked at me funny unitl I left??:rolleyes:

Whell no wonder the N(o) A(uto) P(arts) A(vailable) store doesn't carry it. Use the local Amsoil rep for the fluid or the LE rep. They sould be able to "direct" you to the "proper" supplier for the plugs (r urs tapered thread or straight thread?) I think the 3g's are straight but havent changed mine yet (waiting for the "proper" maintenance time). But then agn depends on which schedule your using for them (A, B, C, or D).

SOTSU!!
