Buying Decision

Well now that I sold my 93, I'm starting to search for a Quad Cab. I've found quite a few trucks out there, and need a little advice.



I thought about trying to find that 'needle in a haystack' 12V QC 4x4 5 speed, but that could be a long wait, with not much guarantee that I'll get exactly what I want.



I've decided to look for a 99-01'truck instead, because of availability and price. I've found a number of these also, that fit my price range. I guess I am wondering what, if any, differences there are between these model years? Also, most of the trucks are 5 speeds, but I found a Y2K 6 speed that's a sport (which I like), and would like some opinions/advice on if this is worth more than the 5 speed?



I've been looking at 1 tons also (actaully they're a little less $ than the 3/4 tons I've seen). Most of them have been at 80K-110K miles for about $19,000-$22,000. Does this seem like a reasonable price? I've checked the blue book and it looks pretty good, however, I think it depends on what part of the country you live in, and what the market for these types of vehicles is doing. Any advice/opinions/help would be appreciated.

Even if you do find a 98 12v, more than likely you will pay for it if they know what they have. So, on to the 24V. If you have not done so, read every thread you can so you know the problems to look for. Definetely go with the six speed over the five. Focus on the front end. Get any truck up on a lift or to an alignment shop for a good once over. This is a buyer's market if ever there was one. At 80-100k, make lowball offers and stick with it. Don't know your budget but I would look for less miles. Lot's of "cherry" duallies out there that never have seen hard work.

Alot depends on what your useing the truck for but if you like the 6 speed then I would say that is the best all around truck with either gearing in the rear. Yes I think the 6 speed would be worth more than the 5 speed, book and personal.
