Off Roading POLL: best mud tire for 5" lift

Competition Match Race of 2006

well after doing a little looking on the internet, I found this...

In its third-ever test session, the Edge Wolverine (also a Bickel tube-frame creation) ran a 9. 77 in a part-throttle pass at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

So was this a 1/4 or only an 1/8? If it was 1/4, then that's not bad becasue I remember Comp being in the 9's not too long ago.

Wonder why it's gone silent?

also found the listing of the team, and old Cord Reynolds was on there. That was a smart cookie, and a heck of a nice guy.

Seems it's best 60' was a 1. 22. That's not to shabby compaired to the 1. 18 60’ of Comp's.

It seems Edge/DD was getting there and now it's gone silent. I sure hope that they didn't drop the program.

the 60 " was a magizine embilishment , their web site listed a 1. 32 as the best , untill the day they droped the web site off .

Well, dunno what happened to the DD truck, but I say it had/has? potential.

Had no idea the "Comp" truck existed before this thread. (But I've been out of the loop. )

I will say that they one of the reasons DD built the truck was for publicity. Can't blame them for that. Didn't Gail Blanks (correct me if I misspelled that Joe ;) ) build a truck for show and go a while back? What happened to it? OH, and look, they spout some of the same stuff seen in this thread:

from the Blanks site:

Banks' business competitors like to talk, but when it came time to actually run at a sanctioned event, they were nowhere to be found.

Is it a trend?

I have great respect for those of you on the cutting edge of diesel performance (well, except for one), especially for those on a beer budget. Problem is you gotta race the champagne guys when the tree drops--if you get the chance.

I also feel the frustration of the folks who are at the track waiting for a "publicity machine" to show up. Frustrating as it is, they don't owe you anything. They built a truck and did a little something with it, and now maybe the story is over.

Fastest is fastest until faster comes along. Faster always does, eventually. If I found myself fastest, I'd enjoy the view while on top and work on spreading the word while I'm there. ;)

So I don't think I'll vote.

No clue what is up with Edge? Really don't care either.

But it seems that their products are starting to have a Harbor Freightish quality to them.

Last time I looked I still have the record, and it’s the ball is in others court to take it away. I don't have to run to keep the record unless someone else runs faster. Unless some of you aren’t paying attention we are on the move with a new motor program that is reaching to the pentacle of Diesel Drag Racing engine development. I have shown some of the parts, and open some of the coveted secrets Diesel engine builders have keep from the general public, and a few of my own innovations , some are just fundamental race engine development. Dry Sump, big Cam cores, stabilized valve train and cylinder heads that flow huge numbers. I do have a dedicated team in this endeavor, comprised of several very talented people. Ray Little of RayMac racing engines. His background is NASCAR engine development, and GTP engine development, Greg Young or ZZ Fabrications, Eddie Hills Fabrication, and currently the specialty fabrications specialist for NX

All it takes is money, good thing it's someone elses and not yours though otherwise you would need a second and third job.

By the way it's pinnacle not pentacle, you may be fast but your spelling and grammar are atrocious! :-laf

Pentacle--tentacle wa's the diff? :p

Well, I know what GTP is. uuh huh.

While developing the stuff, why not go with the pneumatic valve "train" as in F1. Remove the RPM limits imposed by coil spring valve closure.

Wonder what a 5. 9 would sound like at 12,000 rpm? :--)

I have keep mine in 3rd gear, and revved it out to see what the motor would do, and it pulled to 5100 rpms at the traps and the accelerometer was registering . 13 G’s

The Rpm limit on diesels is two fold, one rotating weight, and the speed at which diesel fuel will burn, this in it self is affected by several different factors, first if you flood the chamber with a huge amount of fuel, it dose not get a chance to combust at the right time to make power where its needed, to achieve RPM potential. The higher pressure you inject the fuel at, and the better atomization you get, the higher you can expect the motor to rev. The second part is chemical; the diesel fuel has to be of a high enough C tain to burn that quick.

The bottom end of a Cummins is rock solid to 6000, but the rotation weight is not conducive to making good power at that high, the Duramax will with a set of rods rev easily to 7000, and the rotation weight is better

I’ve seen pneumatic valve springs, and they are cool, but at $20,000 a set a little pricey so are carbon carbon valves , at $16oo a piece , hence them being outlawed in most classes
