Competition 57psi

Competition Sled Puller VS. Smokin' Dave Mitchell

... but did manage to pull 20+ feet farther than last year. I got out there yesterday and noticed a P. Stroke and another C. T. D. with blocked rear suspension and weights hanging off the front. Didn't have them last year so I ASSumed it wasn't legal. Oh well, what do you expect from a local county fair(or should I say unfair). I think they change the rules every year but neglect to tell but a chosen few. The track also really sucked,I don't think anyone got over 260'. I pulled 242',2nd was another C. T. D. (weighted and blocked),and dang it a stinking Phord won(also weighted and blocked)by inches. If I had done the weights and blocks I probably could have won. Oh well hindsights 20/20. I'll get 'em next year,or maybe I'll start pulling at some more events. There was one duramax there and the guy acted so smug like he was going to kick everyones but. I think he pulled a little over 100' ... . Doug

Good showing from a real street truck Doug.

You musta scared 'em pretty good last time to make them go to those lengths to try to win. :D

Yea,Ed I did ok. But they oughta have a stock and a modified diesel class. Like I said can't expect much from a small local pull. I guess I'll have to get off my but and pull in some bigger events, and probably get a heavier clutch... . Doug

Doug... .

Glad to see ya put up a good showng at the unfair,,Finishing 2nd means more motivation for next year,,Nice job... ... . Andy

P. S. -Shhhhhhh... . You better watch how you post this so the SBC police do not find out you were sled pulling with their clutch.....

Gee... ... would that be the same SBC item that caused the dust cloud on the Glen Burnie Cummins dyno? (and forced Doug to have to turn off the magic box to continue?)

You guys are real cute.

I have many levels of clutches so who knows which one might have smoked. And, what police squad are we speaking of?

Even though I do not recommend my clutches for sled pulling, you should call Ken Jones at Diesel Performance in Utah!! He personally has 28 pulls and some of his buddies have pulled over 50 times (on the same clutch). They are not priced as such so you should not compare them.

There are two different ways to pull, it depends on how your truck is set up. One is 3rd low and get off the clutch quick, the other is spool up and let the clutch out slow. Obviously the latter is better for competition and that is why I have FINALLY put together a slipper sled pulling clutch. I think everyone by now has learned that it is a mans game.

Have fun it is awesome to watch. Maybe I will enter my Azteck at the next event. :{

Peter!

I am currently running the best pulling/street clutch on the market.

It is performing as advertised, I love it.

I would, however, take it out and be the test mule for your new puller.

After all, who better than to test a pulling clutch than the 2002 Sled Pulling Champion of Thunder In Muncie???!!!!!:D

Always ready to help a buddy out!;)

Peter...

... I didn't mean to start a clutch debate. I still like your clutch for it's ease of pedal and lack of chatter. I also understand it's not the ideal clutch for sled pulling. Actually it didn't slip at all in the pull, unlike the stinkin' phord, who all but burnt his clear up. It did slip on the load dyno at Cummins-Glen-Burnie though. But that guy lugged it pretty hard in O. D. I don't truck pull but once or twice a year, but if I do get into it more I know that I'm going to have to upgrade my clutch. I have the Con-organic-faced clutch and I'm close to 425 h. p. at the f. wheel so I might be calling if I decide to up the h. p. anymore. I also still pull trailers a good bit so I'm looking for a happy medium. Don't take Hammer the wrong way,he's a pretty good guy,But I know what clutch he think I oughta get ;) :) . Oh yea Gene,it would be outstanding if you would come to this little local fair and show these yocals how it's done Oo. ... . Doug

"You guys are real cute. "

Thanks Peter for the compliment, but, there are those who will DEFINATELY argue that point.....

Now, so as not to make this a clutch bashing thread ,but to keep it on the thin red line we must dance on here now,,I meant no disrespect in saying about the SBC clutch police are abound and watching,it was meant to bust Dougs stones and not hurt your business and product,,I am quite certain that you have products to fit most needs and concerns and have many happy customers and all know about the sled pulling deal with the clutches... .
