Hi,

My buddy bought a 2006 2500 QuadCab and had the dealer install the Navigation radio system. His truck did not come with the uconnect/bluetooth mirror but he would like to install it. Does anyone know if the full wiring harness is installed (he has the overhead console option) at the factory even though his truck did not have the fancy mirror?

He would like to order the mirror and install it but no one he has talked to at the Chrysler customer service number knows if the circuits for the mirror at THERE but just not connected.

Any takers? :)

On a related subject, he would also like to have the steering wheel controls for the radio (another option that was NOT on the truck). Can he just buy the correct wheel and install it? I told him the first thing to do is wait for the new service manual to be released for the 2006 and then he could verify the wiring.

Thanks,

Mick

not sure...

Not sure about the harness, I doubt it, but the wheel controlls can be added pretty easily with a new wheel and harness.

Does anyone have the part number and price for the uconnect mirror (Tomeygun maybe)? I bought the Dodge uconnect kit but also would like to see if I can somehow get it wired up to the factory mirror.

This should answer your question about installing Uconnect in your truck.

Thanks JW but he already has the aftermarket uconnect with the little box (looks like a remote alarm transmitter). He wants the mirror control option .

I will get a part number in the morining for you if Tomeygun does not reply before I wake up

Thanks!

So you know of any engineering types in Detroit that might be able to answer the harness question?

Mick

No the harness isn't already in the truck. In fact Dodge actually built my truck with the wrong mirror harness despite having all of the other uconnect stuff. I have been waiting for the correct harness for 3 WEEKS now!! So not sure how long it will take him to get all of the parts needed.

What is the part number for the wiring harness? I think I am going to order both the harness and the mirror and see if I can't make it work.

MCrossley,

Guess Tomeygun is still sleeping :-laf Did you ever come up with a part number for the mirror and harness needed?

Thanks,

Mick

MCrossley PMed me with the following numbers: mirror 5064017ae and harness 56051317ac. He was also going to do some further research to see if this would work or not.

Sorry I did forgett to post that on here, I meant to when I sent the PM, I am still trying to get an answer whether or not it will actually work, this is a very expensive thing to do on the aftermarket side and so I want to make sure it will work, I will keep you posted...

Me too.

What else do I need beside the harness and mirror listed above.

I missed this thread... Bad news, I have tried many a times, Absolutely no way I know of to get the factory (rearview mirror-style) Uconnect into a un-uconnect truck

:(

Can be done. I think?? I have been working on this for quite a while now. Yes you need the module, the bracket to hold the module. The harness from the mirror and the mirror. And the ability to splice and dice to tap into the existing wiring. Most of the forums I have been on have no idea how to accomplish this and many dont even know what uconnect is

Anyway. Go to lxforums.com and search the forums for "factory uconnect install" and the guys on their will show you the nitty gritty on this. They have done it successfully on magnums and 300C's that has VERY similar wiring as our rams. They have the diagrams for splicing, the part #'s and the correct 22 way plug that you are going to have to buy ($60). Hope this helps. I ordered the plug and will be attempting this next week. Wish me luck. Drop me an email if you have any questions.

AzCattle. I read the thread on the lxforum (www.lxforum.com/board/showthread.php?t=15441). Are you going to make a new harness or are you going to modify the aftermarket harness? What I dont follow is why we cannot buy the factory harness instead of using the aftermarket harness that comes with the aftermarket kit. If you figure this out make two harnesses and I will gladly compensate you for your time. I guess the aftermarket harness does not have a place to plug in the harness from the mirror? If the function of the remote button that comes with the aftermarket kit is the same as the functions on the mirror couldn't the button be cut off and spliced to the mirror harness?

I am still a rookie at this by a long shot, but I think I have everything that I need. I purchased a sirius harness and an extra 22 way plug from the dealer. As the post suggests, I am going to use that sirius harness and splice into the C1 plug in the module. That same plug will have the mirror wires and 3 or 4 (cant remember) lines going to the radio C2 plug. It really is not that hard, just a little splicing (I hope). I have been trying to get a harness from the dealer but I cannot get the exact wiring without getting the VIN from a truck that has both sirius and uconnect on it (which is the setup that I want). If you know anyone or can get a VIN from a truck that has both in it then I might be able to order a factory harness avoiding all this chaos. Can anyone help me out with this VIN to satisfy the parts department request? Thanks
