Friend has a 98. 5 24valver 5 spd dually with a banks big hoss chip on it. Supposively 160 horse chip  but from driving the truck and comparing it to identical trucks = maybe 60 horses, but thats a different story. Well he wanted some more power so he put some Bully Dog 60 horse injectors in it. No difference in power or EGT's or boost, only throttle response. We CANT get that truck to see more than 20 lbs of boost. We tried putting an old style Van Aiken timing box on it and it did nothing for the truck either. I know the big hoss chip has some safety features that cut back fuel at high EGT's and other precautions, so my thinking is the box is holding the injectors and Van Aiken back. Im pretty sure his boost gauge is an electric gauge that might run off the big hoss box itself. Would this be the reason for not seeing more than 20 lbs of boost? Ive been saying all along yank that banks off, sell it on ebay, and get somethin worth talkin about, but wed like to know why were not getting any more power with upgrades.

First thing is do you have a boost elbow in the HX35? If it is still setup stock, then you wont see more than 20lbs of boost due to the wastegate. If that doesnt fix your problem I think you may have a boost leak or a defective boost gauge. You should definetely see more boost.

Hows the smoke level? Take out the Hoss Chip and try just the Van Aiken box and see what you get. Maybe your Hoss box is bad??

Did the Injectors come with a boost elbow?

And if they did, did you install it?

You won't get more boost from injectors with out a boost elbow.

Does the Big Hoss have a boost fooler?

You don't want to go above ~20psi with out one.

Horsepower & Boost

Don't understand not getting more power with bigger injectors. I added DD#2's before adding Edge EZ and got lots of power (also lost 2 mpg)

If I understand your comments, you have done nothing to control wastegate on turbo, therefore won't get any more boost! I believe all 24 valve engines are limited to 20-23 psi boost unless modified by boost elbow. Mine is. boost elbow with Edge EZ ups it to 32 psi.

Try a search for more info.

You need to disable the wastegate and get a boost fooler.

Once the ECM see's 20 lbs of boost it starts defueling, the boost fooler does just what it's name implies, fools the map sensor so the ECM does not see more than 20lbs of boost.

Also unplug the banks, it is cutting back fuel do to the parimeters set in the banks controler. But make sure you do the wastegate and boost fooler.

Im assuming the banks box does have a map (boost) fooler. It has a harness that connects to the map sensor similar to my powermax. As for the boost elbow on the turbo - Im not sure that one came with the banks, I got one with my powermax, and one did not come with the injectors. Something that has me stumped also is why I could build 30 lbs of boost on my personal truck withOUT a boost elbow. Was the wastegate blocked? Thanks for the info.
