Let's be honest here. I have my 1996 with the auto trans with 100,000 miles. Does removing the cat REALLY have any effect on HP. Has anyone dyno'ed with and without the cat AND NO OTHER MODIFICATIONS? I remember when I was a kid and we all removed our cat's on our chevy 350's and I have to admit I noticed no difference in power.

I stated on here several times, when I removed my cat at about 115,000, I noticed no real change in the operation of my truck. I did hear a significant difference in the turbo whine, which tells me that the cat was causing a restriction in the line. The choice is up to you, but common sense tells me that if it's restricting exhaust flow, there would be a loss of power associated with it. Try it for yourself.

I didn't notice any improvement in power, the turbo wine can be heard easier and it doesn't smoke near as bad when on the throttle.

I would say it would have the most effect on EGTs. Especially if it's the least bit plugged.

Hey Piersol - you're just down the road from me. I live in Girard.
