I have been reading this thread for 3 hours... But I missed something. Is there any new news on the electronic cruise control getting smoothed out? I have an 01 6 speed with the electric cruise, and I need it to work.

Also, are there any Catchers in Minnesota. This might be a hard sell to the other driver/check book balancer in the household since I bought a new stock ecm this winter when mine failed.

Thanks

Randy

Randy -

Sent you a e-mail.

I've had no issues with the cruise on my '02 3500 ETH.

Not building full boost at the moment, but thats another issue. :(

my cc surges pretty good at any highway speed. i think it's a combo of the performance bombs and the controller trying to move the throttle at the stock rate. Speeds up, slows a bit, speeds up, slows a bit... after several cycles it smooths some more, but never holds very steady. Manual trucks are mechanical control, autos are electronic thru the ecm, right? or am i backwards again?!

item 2. dyno'd 4/16 here in Sacramento at Imler's event. 433hp is less than 1hp different than my last attempt, 1006torque is 31# higher. May be environmental differences, i'm not sure. Ken Imler was running the trucks on the dyno, didn't see the gauges for boost/egt info. I wasn't expecting more power, but the low-end spool-up and boost building is AWESOME! I'm still getting used to the throttle sensitivity, it's quick to fuel. I need to re-calibrate my apps, I only went through the pedal up/down cycle once before I started the truck.

I'm not sure what mine will do when it gets the CAtcher, but the cruise surges quite a bit when I run the drag comp higher than 2x3. There or under and it does not surge at all.

I've wondered about this same point. Right now, I'm only running an EZ and DD2s. If I have the EZ set on level 3, it will surge pretty bad while interstate driving (since the extra fueling kicks in at 2psi). I usually run on level 2, so it makes it a little better since the extra fueling doesn't kick in till 10psi. But the boost needle will still get to jumping when you start up a hill and boost climbs past 10.

With the increased low-end of the Catcher, is there a way to change the rate at which the ECM adds fuel to maintain speed on CC. Since my CC is all electronic, the needle valve trick won't work.

I've got an '01 with the electronic CC also. With Mach 1. 5's & my Blue Chip APB turned up about 1/3, I have no surge issues with the CC. If I try to make up to much speed with the "resume" button, It will lay our a significant puff of smoke, but it will hold a constant speed very well.

Bob--you are not going to believe this, but I just put my CaTCHER on for the first time---I'm fast HUH--truck started with no problems and I'll test her out tomorrow and this weekend at the HALF MOON BAY pulls---chris

That is very funny, I just sent you an email before I read this post :-laf

welcome back :)

what type of warranty issue? The CaTCHER is a safe upgrade.

My dealer has taken care of warranty issues, very much to my satisfaction. If the VP goes out, I don't want him screaming foul.

PM coming

As I understand it, the dealer would not be able to "detect" the CaTCHer. All they can do is reflash the ECM, which Replaces Marco's programming with the factory version. One nice thing about the CaTCHer is that it enhances low end fueling without molesting the VP connections. Having said all of that, you conscience is your best guideline when you modify. I believe in the Self Warrenty Station philosphy. I am also still sitting a bit funny after replacing the VP and repairing/upgrading within 1 week of each other.

BTW I am not the expert on this, I have followed this thread and others for a long time, my CaTCHer unit is enroute to the USA.

marco sets up the ecm so reflashing from the dealer is not an issue, no worry about overwriting the catcher program. :)

marco is on holiday until 04/26 :)

JHerrlich- You still haven't dyno'd yet!?!? Are you just scared of the numbers you'll see? The ECM is awesome, huh? Get a clutch in there and DYNO!! ECM, Mach4s, B1 with 4. 10 and 35s should push you into the 500-520 range (just my semi-under-educated guess) ... let's prove it!

Isnt that a similar combo to Bob Wagner?

He is ~400hp.
