Guess my mind is made up Oo. I think I will find another replacement ECN for my outfit from Cummins and then send that one in for the mod. That way I will have a spare should something go wrong, which I doubt, but it is kind of like a spare tire, you never think about it till you need it. ;) This with the gear-vendors overdrive should be the last of the bombing for me for a year or two.

I am thinking about getting one for my truck. Question, what does it do to fuel economey? I know if we are lead footed  it will be the usual, but what if we drive normal? ;)

I got an improvement of 1 to 2 mpg when I went to an EZ. When I swapped that out for the CaTCHER I saw no change in milage but an amazing improvement in throttle response. Like you I wanted a spare ECM so I found one on E-bay which I got for about $250. I've been running the CaTCHER for about 9 months now with zero problems. I'm feeling very confident in it's reliability & I subsequently sold my spare at cost with no regrets. What I'm getting at is if you are put off by Cummins high price for a replacement, you really have little to worry about. Unless you throw a rod through it or disassemble it a bunch to tweak the innards it's not going to fail you.

DITTO!!!!!!!!! :D

Message sent to seller at 1:15pm today...

Dear rock-n-ram,

You asked:

"Rob, this is a 100 pin ECM (motorhome) and will not work in a 24 valve cummins, therefore this will not make a good core unit for the MAD (CaTCHer) ECM. Just an FYI... "

Response from seller at 6:10pm today... .

I was misinformed, sorry for any inconvenience. Rob

Checked 8:44pm today, still for sale... .

SteveFarley,

Yes that's the kind of ECM you need for your motorhome. At least should...

I'd check first what's on that engine. Just to be sure...

Marco

Thank you marco I was wondering i will look in the morning. Have you done any of these I think you said yes.

I am very happy with the one i have in y twinned truck I might be interested in a bit more timing is that possible and if so how much?

Can someone ... . anyone please start a CLIFFNOTES THREAD

with just the valuable posts ... . leave out repeated or unanswered questions

I keep trying to read all this but I must be stupid or something because I can never make it all the way threw and I always lose my place so I start over . .

is there any way to just see Marco's and Bobs replys only !!!! ... . LOL

A TDR useless post (like this one) filter, come on Steve now that would be great!! :-laf

Seriously, this thread is awesome, but I am so glad that I have been following it from the start, I would sure hate to try and read all the way through it at this point.

following it from the start, but can you remember anything before page 75? i know i can't!

(useless post filter must be disabled, and i didn't even get shocked when i submitted this tidbit of excrement!)

Hello guys... I've been lurking around this forum for almost a year, off/on. I finally subscribed today and this is my first post.

I've been reading this CaTCHER thread for a week or so, and actually ordered one on Mon. from Bob. A few replies up, "Git-R-Done" attached a dyno chart. I'm very interested in the stock vs. CaTCHER data because this will be my first mod. I'm a newbie, but does the chart look strange to anybody? The ECM HP line falls off very steep after 2000 rpm, yet the TQ line is still flat all the way to ~2800 rpm. Peak torque actually occurs at ~2500 rpm, yet it's way after the HP has fell off. I mean, according to this, there's no need to rev the truck past 2000 rpm when shifting. Now I normally shift at 2000 rpm, but when I want to really get moving, I'll run it to ~2800 and shift, which feels about right. Can anybody shed some light on the graph?

I've got gauges and a Scotty II coming on Fri. , so I'm excited about getting the mods underway.

Here is the dyno sheet for my mildly modified truck. I will take mine. I am not sure if the DTT smart controller was on or off, so TC may have been not locked. SNOKING

Yes, that looks normal... both lines are ramping down as you rev it out. The other graph looks weird because the torque seems unaffected by the hp dropping steeply.

I'm pleased you asked that question. I noticed the same thing but just let it slide. I'll be watching to see if any one comes up with an explanation.

You mean the hp seems unaffected by the torque? ;)

HP is a function of torque & RPM.

BTW, My first tank I got 15. 5mpg with the Catcher. I have never got less than 16. 5mpg stock. Probably my lead foot... .

Right direction?

I recently decided I had to get on board with the BOMB'ing thing. I'm tired of hearing about my friends new trucks (FXXD's and CXXXY's) having more horsepower and torque than my "old" 2001. I initially thought about the Edge Comp along with ISSPRO gauges, AFE Stage1, and somebody's 4" exhaust. After reading this entire thread (yep, actually did), I'm pretty sold on Marco's MAD ECM instead of the Comp. I only tow light trailers once in a while. I'm looking to turn my "old" 2001 into a new truck. Sounds like that's exactly what the MAD ECM will do. Bear with me on my knowledge of BOMB'ing, I've been away from the TDR for about 4 years (stupid me). I'm planning on keeping my stock turbo, injectors, and clutch. That is unless I find that slope you guys keep mentioning. Am I headed in the right direction? Thanks for any help everyone.

I've been thoroughly impressed with Marco and everyone else involved in bringing this product out. Maybe I can get Marco to modify a DDEC III from the fire engine I drive at work. ;)
