Bob,

Just got back from a 14 mile test run with the MAD you so quickly provided. I must say, its every thing people here are raveing about! I went from a tired old mule (defueling from overboost of 25lbs) to a yearling at the Kentucky Derby! As you said, the cruise control works fine as I have the auto trans. The only small quirk I notice is when you back out of the throttle after poorin some cole to her, there is a slight surge ahead before the truck actualy starts to slow down. Its only there for about a half second and I have already determined its far too minor a quirk to bother with. Oh, Boost now can peg at 29 lbs on a hard uphill and EGT would go no more than 1100 with very light grey smoke. By then I gotta back out of the 85 or so MPH cause I only have a narrow n somwhat winedy road. :D Next week I get the Bosio RV275's put in. Next year an exhaust and I am DONE, Finished, Complete !!!!!!!!! ... ... ..... that is after I do the dash/evap core thing soon.

MARCO, Bob, Many Thanks for a great product.

Sensitive throttle!!!!

After a couple months, I have become irritated with the sensitivity of the throttle with the Catcher. The first 1/2 travel of the throttle is very sensitive, while past 1/2 throttle there is almost nothing.

I spent some time off road the other day creeping along in 1st on a slippery bumpy road and it was difficult to keep the truck from bucking from my throttle foot moving slightly from bumps.

Anyone else have this issue?

I have some of the same. I noticed a HUGE change when I disconnected the Comp completely. CA trucks worse than others in this? Do you have a fuel box on yours as well? I am going to dyno the truck without the Comp (not just off, but DISCONNECTED!) and see what I get.

Historically, I ran 340hp before the ECM with the Comp off and 433hp on 5x5.

With the ECM, I ran 434hp on 5x5 (I wasn't expecting any hp gains, but for a reference). I want to run it without the Comp again for info.

I will likely get the ECM reflashed to standard timing and go with a fueling only box later.

Yeah, I encounter the sensitive throttle thing too. I believe that with time I've overcome the sensitivity. I drive with the comp off, also. The only time that it really gets me, is when I accidentally drive off a curb with my back tire. It bucks like it's cool so I put a little more throttle in to compensate, holy smokey burnout, batman...

I was concerned about the sensitivity issue at first but I got used to it. It's only a problem "off road" over those really big ruts. I don't find it much worse than with the original ECM program really. I just idle over the rough stuff like I always did. I have been considering a PS high idler kit so I could increase my idling speed a little.

I wonder if this annoying problem also provides some of the fun with the Catcher because it makes us feel like it takes such a small amount of throttle pressure to provide so much power... . ?

Can Marco can fix this?

I don't notice that any more now than before. My six speed would surge and buck at any attempt to touch the peddle on rough rocks. Using 4 low in 2nd or 3rd gear lets me give it a steady amount of RPMs to smooth it out. No different than with stock ECM. I love this thing.

how about a comparison? CA HO trucks versus 49-state HO trucks. seems like there may be some variance here...

one vote here for a CA truck too sensitive

I have a federal truck HO with the sensitivity.

JWBoothe, do you have a fueling box on yours? is it the standard or special program?

I did the APPS reset this last week and it improved a good bit. I went so far as to disconnect the batteries, leave the key on and batts disconnected for 12 hours while I was gone, then turn key off, reconnect batts, turn key on and SLOWLY cycle the throttle pedal through its full range ONE TIME ONLY. key off for several hours and then start normal and drive. it got better, but it got more better (?) after completely removing the Comp from the truck (MAP, DATA and power to the Comp)

I have a comp and a catcher ... and I have turned my comp off it seems the catcher kind of messes with my trany shifting it will go in lock up pretty fast and with a 21 CM Ext housing it can be doggie till you get her to spool... . once I relearn how to drive Im sure I can turn my comp back on for normal driviing but for now its OFF... I have a real bumby long drive way and with the sensitivity of the catcher I find my self with the radio off and trying to just lay my foot on the Acel. but when I hit a bumb it still makes the acel pedel go down about 1 Cenimeter which is enough to throw me into lock up at 25 MPH ..... LOL ..... I think it acts the same with or with out the comp on the only diffrence is it Shifts alot harder when the comp is turned on. and till I can learn the ballancing game between Smooth ride and lock up Im better off with the comp off ... till I feal the need.

With comp on Slow Acel. down low and then it steadly picks up fastly then at about 40 MPH the After Burners kick in and it ramps up to 55 then the After Burners shut off then at 60 or so they come back on and sling shot you .

Not really a smooth ramp in Speed with the Catcher more of a GO FAST NOW !! then OK pause then a BLAST OFF !!!!!!

Pretty cool as long as the trany holds up and my passenger as well..... I try to tell then when it Sling Shots I swear Im not giving it anymore fuel . . it just takes off like a sports car.

Not sure how Snowy roads will do for me ..... Atleast I get plenty of time to learn how to drive it like it wants to be driven.

Till then LOckup/////downshift////lockup HARD!!!!?/downshift... ... ... ... . AAARGGGGGHHHHH

Im sure it will get smooth

I have a smoke video

CATCHER , COMP 5x5 , HX35-21

NO INJECTORS !!!!!!

Under WOT it shifts hard but not too hard till OD hits then ,,,BAM,,, clink ,,LOCk ,,bog..... lol

Here the Video

Less than 1 MB so you dial upers can watch too... . if it works

Hard start???

I posted a little something in the 24v forum about my truck starting hard. I checked the codes and came up with a P0602. Is this a code that may have occured due to changing the ECM when I installed my Catcher ??? Can these codes be reset without a scan tool of some sort???

Rick C. ;

Rick, The 0602 code is set because the ecm is operating outside of the stock parameters, its just a nuisance code which has no effect on performance.

Bob, I put the ECM in on Sun. and can say it does work well. I will send you the core in the next day or two.

For those that may be interested, I am not currently running the comp box as I replaced my injection pump about a month ago and haven't yet brought myself to tap into the wire due to the warranty on the new pump. I have the box completely disconnected and off of the truck. I personally expected the hard acceleration to come on a little sooner, but I also realize that I have the special version with less timing due to the comp box. My cruise control works fine.

Smoke with just the CaTCHER and DD3's is nice and thick  . Probably comparable to what 3/3 was with the box and injectors. The acceleration I would say is comparable to 2/2 with the box and injectors. Boost with the stock ECM and injectors alone I saw about 26-27psi boost. With this ECM and injectors alone I am now seeing around 31-32psi.

It's hard putting off reconnecting the box :{, but when I do I will post again.

Thanks Bob and Marco.
