After my headlight switch is trying to burn up on me for the 5th time since June, I drove around last night with just my CATZ lights on that are on a separate circuit.

Much to my surprise, a cop pulled me over and said that I was driving without my headlights on and that the driving lights don't count. He let me go without a ticket, but for you guys who like to drive with just your CATZ or other driving lights, watch out.

Many states require driving lights to be used like high beams (they can only be used when high beams can be used). Fog lights can be left on all the time.

Hmmm... just got two new fog lights bulbs today so I'll pop them in, but I dunno if I want to push my luck since the cop let me off once already.

The real bummer is that I can't get my truck worked on (it's roasting headlight switches) until Oct. 30. It sounds like a PHORD dealer...

One problem though...

what makes a fog light a fog light is either the fluting of the lense or the reflector or both, not necessarily the bulb. Without the proper fog light lense and/or reflector, proper light dispersal consistent with a fog light pattern will not be correct.

:cool::cool:

Azcummins, Replace the light switch your self it's pretty easy just pop off the dash cover and it takes 2 screws and it's out. It's that easy takes about 20 minutes to fix and the part is only $30.

DarrellB-

i've replaced 4 of these switches, so I'm quite good @ it. I tried to get a new switch yesterday, but of course the "5-star" dealer doesn't have it and can't get it till friday. Esch...

Hopefully the dealer can determine that I do need the recall and it will be fixed.

thanks dude.

Maybe you can just put a lighted toggle switch in the dash in place of the original switch. :D I bet Walmart has some nice plastic one that you could buy. :p

I'm sorry that not even funny. :(

I've replaced 2 of switches myself. :mad:

headlight switch

i rewired my sport lights completely, using the switched grounds to trigger the relays. ran 12 ga wire to the lights and grounded them with 10 ga. time will tell if it saves the switch, since it only trips the relays now..... sure did make the lights brighter. don't know how much the voltage increased, but noticeably brighter..... 18 ga wire to feed the headlights?????GMAB!!

my two lincoln's worth. :rolleyes:
