Let me know what CB and attenna set ups you guys are using. I think i am going to go with a firestick mounted to the front of my truck bed behind my cab because i personally cant stand fender mounts. Dont flame me about distance issues because i do know that i wont get maximum distance from that location. But life is full of trade offs i guess. Anyway, suggest some CBs please. I dont really want a big flashy chrome one that looks like it belongs in a Pete but other than that i am open to your suggestions and experiances. Thanks guys.

I've had k40's before and they worked well. I used to get comlements on the antenna when passing truckers. It musta been ok. Maybe they were just checking out my wife sitting shotgun.

Anyways' I had a magnet mount on the roof. They are priced good. They're likely not up to par for the serious guy who likes to hear himself talk all day on the CB, but worked well otherwise.

My Dad has a JC Penney CB radio that he used flawlessly for years. I think he still has it collecting dust in the basement.

I have K 40's and a Cobra 29 Classic with Night Watch, WX and Sound Tracker on my Dodge.

Have Barjan 3' ant. w/HD springs (got tired of breaking them on low hanging tree branches when I can't move over) and a Cobra 25 with NW and ST in the Mack.

I have a Uniden Grant XL in my Ram right now... ... . too big for what you want... but that thing is a HOSS on the air!:D

I graduated to that from a Cobra 25 Sound Tracker which is small convienent and would look better. Its now going in my off-road truck.

On my Ram I run a Wilson 1000 magnent mount for maxium range. You don't wanna know what I'm gonna be running in the off-road truck :-laf

A home built mini oil rig looking tower that will be bolted to my bed floor with my Cobra High Gear on top. Its a 79 Chevy 3/4 4x4... ... its ok to drill holes! :-laf :D

I have an old Audio King antenna mounted just like you said, in the front of the bed.

As long as the coil part is above the roof line, it should work OK. Make sure youre bracket is grounded, especially if you have a bedliner.

If you run into an old Cobra 29 that's in good condition, they were always good radios.

I cant comment on the newer models.

I know more about the export radios than the US models.

I run a Uniden HR 2510 into a Texas Star 1200 amp. :D

I put a Cobra 75 something in my 03. It's all in the microphone except for a small box with connectors for power and antenna. I have a magnetic mount Radio Shack antenna. (sits on the bedrail near home and rooftop on the road) The radio works good enough for me, but I'd like a better antenna. (Good reception and clearance for the garage too much to ask?)

C.B.

Wilson 3' mounted with a Firestick fender mount bracket and all hooked to a Galaxy 77HML... Works for me. I had a Cobra 29ST previously and it was a good radio also.

Galaxy 44. Astatic mic, francis ant. mounted on the headache rack... .

FWIW. . I've run these francis antenna's with as much as 1200 watts, never a problem... . ;)
