I am going to pull the transmission on my 98 12 valve to install a new south bend and input shaft on friday night. Any words of advice or special tools Ill need? I am a heavy truck mechanic and am doing it at work so basic tools and transmission jack are there Its my daily driver and I need to go to Ohio on sunday so I want to go into the job prepared Thanks Craig

Its a pretty straight foward job the crossmember can be a little tricky to get back in if you dont have a frame spreader, just be sure to get the clutch in and alighned with the new input shaft before putting the shaft in the transmission.

Yeah, it is really an straight forward and simple job all except for fighting with the crossmember is what held me up. Lightly spreading the frame right behind the mounting points really helped getting it in and out.

didn't have to fight my crossmember at all... if I would have had all the parts ready and waiting, I could have knocked out the whole job in about 4-5hrs.

that's laying on my back in the driveway...
