I have had a problem with acceleration and with my cruise control on my 2001 24 valve Dodge Diesel. On occassion when starting the truck after it has sat for a few days I have no acceleration. I pust the gas pedal to the floor and the truck just creeps down the street. It usually goes away within 5 minutes.
On the highway when I use cruise control I find that at times it will not hold the chosen speed. The speedometer goes down about 8 to 10 MPH and then the cruise control kicks in and brings it back to speed. Other times it will hold the chosen speed right on the money.
I do think the problems are inter-related but I do not know what the real cause may be. I did take it into my local dealer and was told it was the Transfer Pump and it was replaced. The incidence rate has been reduced since the pump replacement but not by much (I do not think the Transfer Pump was the problem).
Any information or help would be greatly appreciated (I am a novice to diesel trucks and will need a detailed explanation)
Thank you in advance for any help, Christopher
