In an 02, auto did the rear end come with a D80 or D70 HD? Also looking at a wreck truck how can I tell which is which?

Thanks

As far as I know, the auto's came with a 70 (except the DRW's). The Dana 80 diff cover is quite different from the 70, taller if I remember correctly. Hopefully someone will chime in who can explain an easy way to differentiate the two.

Thanks to everyone who replied. The 02 auto does have a 70, but it did come with a camper special (overload springs and swaybar). I am picking them up today and soon will have rear discs on my 99 :D

#@$%! U-SUCK :-laf Just kidding.

So jealous. :{ I've been putting up with the drums on my 99 since 01. They've been doing ok though.

I "think" the rear disc set up (rear end from the 02) may have some different fluid system parts that you may need to complete the conversion. Like: proportioning valve, rear anti-lock, bed level/load sensing valve thing that's in the fluid line.

I don't know if you are picking the rear up or if it's being delivered? Get as many little fluid system parts from the donor truck as you can . . .

Let us know how things go for you.

I don't have a load sensing valve and the ABS is on the rear diff like all the others. The parking brake setup might be different but it's still a drum.

Actually I got the MS, ABS module, prop valve, emergency brake cables, speed sensor on housing, along with camper special springs, all the hardware... I paid $640 for it allOo.

I feel very pleased. I also picking up the the fuel module too for $30
