It's been 4 years since I posted the original inquiry about this. In the meantime I've dealt with many personal and family health issues, but have now fully recovered and am ready to re-visit this project.

I know that not everyone uses Facebook, but there is a page created there with a poll to determine the public's interest in seeing these re-manufactured. There's currently enough interest there to warrant production. However, the low volume would put the prices around $100 per set (base & top) plus shipping. We need more people to show interest so that we can get the price down to the $45 range.

The page is https://www.facebook.com/PodsGuy

We need everyone to go there and LIKE the post for which pod you'd be interested in. Having everyone's interest centralized into one location is the best way to monitor this. For those who do not use Facebook, send a message here .... -- email address removed --

Choices are:

3 Pod - Right Mount
4 Pod - Right Mount
5 Pod - Right Mount

3 Pod - Left Mount
4 Pod - Left Mount
5 Pod - Left Mount

The Left Mount is a 2nd Gen base that actually fits the 1st Gen very nicely ...

And for those of us who REALLY like gauges, as you can see, 2 of the 5 Pods will fill the dash !!!

NOTE: These are NOT being produced yet. We need everyone to show their interest so that an accurate cost can be determined. At which point, a separate post will be made in the Classifieds section.

Why not also fill in the middle with a dual gauge pod and have room for TEN gauges straight across!!!

If someone wanted to use the Westach Dual Gauges, they could monitor 20 parameteers without taking their eyes off the road!!!

Analog gauge geeks unite!!! LOL

We're making progress on these. There's enough interest to get the price down to $70 for a 3 or 4 pod, and $80 for a 5 pod now. I hope to meet with the company that will be producing them for us next week. I'll keep everyone posted here.

So do these pods just Velcro on ? ,I'm not a fan of the pillar poids ,they sort of make me clostofobic ,how are guys running the wires is there a loom or what ?

Yaaaaay! :) Crew cab can get some more gauges. :D

I tried to find that link it would not work for me I'm interested in one

If you just click on the Facebook link I posted above (in the original post), it should take you directly to the page.

Yes, these dash pods just Velcro to the dash, unless you prefer to screw them down, but most of us are purists here :)

Interesting post. I personally like mechanical gauges over digital gauges. But I believe that comes from driving older equipment. I am not saying the digital gauges are not good, I just do not trust them.

Received final numbers from them today. It seems they originally misunderstood the project's objective and requirements, therefore the quotes they gave me were a lot lower than what I now have in-hand.

The new production costs are substantially more, so I will need a few weeks to formulate a new plan for funding the project, and to determine what the new cost per pod will be.

"Thank You" to everyone who has shown interest in these and in this page.

I will post again when I have determined how to keep the price of these at or below $100 each.

Maybe check with another company , There is many plastic injection mold companies out there

Those type of pods are done by vacuum molding. Completely different process and cheaper than injection molding.

That type of pod if done by injection molding would require two molds. The upper half and the lower half would require a single mold for each item. At $100 or so a pod you wouldn't recover the cost of the molds with the amount of 1st gens left in the market place.

The issue is the type of vacuum form mold required. This type of pod is not the easy to do style. It is a complex sliding core system due to the undercut that is required for the upper end of the gauge recess. As such, it is very expensive.

I started working with a new company on this project last week.

I'll keep everyone updated on the progress here, on 1stgen.org, and the Facebook page.

Here we go again ........ Oo.
