Friends,
Took the 5500 out today. I'm studying the data logging info to understand and interpret it, but I'm going to post my SEAT OF THE PANTS feel:
1. Floor it hard from dead stop = MAX TQ Mgt. Took a 2 to 3 seconds for the truck to really accelerate
2. Rolling into it worked OK, but still a little slow to accelerate in traffic. This is OK for towing and getting onto interstate
3. About 1 second to about 80% throttle resulted in best acceleration. This is for pulling out in front of someone...best acceleration.
Take away… I cant hurt the engine OR transmission flooring it or rapidly accelerating it due to TQ management. And I could break the rear tires loose on ice, and maybe on loose gravel.
Remember this is for a 12.2KLB 5500 truck, with different cam, fuel and transmission programming. Pickups may or may not behave the same.
EDIT: And its 100`F outside.
Cheers, Ron
