I get ~1000 empty and ~500 towing. Best is 1052, but I've had 3 tanks over 1000. Worst was 483 and that was elk hunting with lots of slow driving and slow heavish towing.

It's very interesting that the new HO's get that much worse DEF economy than my 18 HO. There is more power when DEF is the primary means of controlling NOx, but how often is the motor making enough power to show that much of a increase in DEF usage... then again maybe it's across the board that the motor is using less EGR and that's not a bad thing, DEF is still pretty cheap at 500 mpg.

yeah... Its not to bad, I buy all of mine at the Loves locally and bulk prices are much better than boxes... FWIW, I dont baby it or try to hypermile it so it is what it is and my ave FE is almost the same as my 04 was.. about 5~10% like you had told me last year... And yes I'd rather use DEF than EGR. Your truck is 3.73 and stock tires?... I also do alot of driving in the 70~80 area so maybe that's part of it.

Advance Auto always has 3 or 4 "types"/brands of both 1 gal and 2.5 gal.

DEF is a bit harder to find this month as I got the last 2.5 gal box of Fram branded def at advance discount parts this week. There were no other brands, either.

Well, just snatched up 2gal of T6 (5w40syn) at Home Depot, I was checking the isle like I always do and there were two on the shelf... Kinda weird it felt like I had the winning bingo ticket.. One more and I'll be set for my service next fall, I like to keep consumables on hand when possible.

That's insane some actually paid the $68 for a gallon... missed the fine print. At least they owned up to it and posted up for other to be warned.

I would rather just run my truck into the ground and trade it in at that rate.

Around Christmas, when I found no Rotella of any flavor in the local Walmarts or auto stores in central NC, I ordered a 3 pack of T4 from Walmart's web site. Over the next month I received one gallon at a time and the order was finally completed a couple of weeks ago. On Saturday I was in a local Walmart and saw the shelves packed with T4. No T5 or T6. Go figure.

Also not having a lot of luck finding the Fleetguard air filter . Have heard the Wix filters are okay ?
DEF so far has not been a problem here off the shelves .

Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, I check every time I go in and its hit or miss, doesn't stay on the shelves long, but Im only 1 gal left from having stock for my next change in August 22'... Just keep looking and it shows up.. FWIW I believe there is a special place in 4ell for those people gouging folks on the internet for oil, its absurd to pay 3 or 5 times more for it.

still zero diesel oil at several wallyworlds in colorado. got the last container of peak DEF at home d this am. i am also getting sick of my grocery store looking like a venezuela market ( empty shelves all the time ). cheers all! :)

If anyone has a ConocoPhillips distributor near you, check out their Guardol ECT oil. Our independent testing lab put it above Rotella and Delo. Semi-synthetic 10w30.

They also still produce a CI4+ oil for those of us with non-DPF trucks.

Switched from Delo to Guardol ECT Ti 5 years ago and never looked back. Syn Blend, engine runs smoother and quiter, and holds oil pressure better.

Where did you put your oil pressure sender at?

I noticed better pressure/temps switching from Amsoil AME (CI-4) to DME (CK-4) on my 05. Pressure sender in the cam journal above the ECM and temp in the filter head.
