I recently had the truck at the local dealer to do the EGR cleanup due at 67.5

When I picked up the truck the "Perform Service" in the EVIC was still on so I asked the service advisor if he could reset it. The guy was obviously clueless since his question was "Have you recently changed oil?"...

Long story short is that while he was fizzling with the pedals he did the "oil change" reset pedal combination. Eventually he called a tech who did the correct sequence and the "Perform Service" went off .

The question I have is whether doing the "oil reset" pedal combination (3 times gas pedal) when the message in EVIC is not on would result in resetting the background counter. This is a 2012 so I have the older EVIC screen.

Thanks for any suggestion...

I would think so. I never run our truck until the message is on. Whether the message is on or off, going through the reset procedure should zero everything out - just like if you had performed an oil change in the driveway and reset it yourself. It does on every other vehicle I have.

Perfect. I knew I didn't have to let them touch my truck...

They probably flashed the computer while you were in. On a road trip my passenger electric seat got stuck when a wire chaffed. I found a dealership somewhere in Texas that fixed the wire. I then noticed my fuel filter and oil change indicators were off. AFter some research, it appears they flashed the computer and these things reset. Weird thing was my fuel filter went to like 45% life left, from the 2% or so it was on...so it didn't really reset. Just moved to some random number. I posted a message here and someone confirmed this will/can happen. I wonder if this is what happened to yours?
