I've got a 2002, VP44 with an Airdog. Just recently installed an Edge Juice with Attitude CTS. Tapped pump (Blue Chip Special 'X') with their stealth pump cover.

Truck ran fine in morning on setting 3... On way home switched to setting 5 and about 3 miles into the trip home from work I hammered on it pretty hard for only 2-3 seconds and then coasted for about a quarter mile before discovering it died. Pulled to side of road and it hasn't started back up since.
It had codes P0851 & P0852.
I tried unhooking batteries and unhooking pump tap wire... nothing!

Spoke with Edge and they said the fuel pump was sucked dry and that I need to bleed the injectors.
Tried that and no luck... .

Truck WILL run on ether starting fluid but once you stop spraying it dies!

Great! Wow, didn't even have the Edge on for 24 hours... ... .

Years ago when many of us were first modifying the 24-valves when they were new, it was fairly common to hear of pumps failing immediately after the install of a fueling box that tapped the pump wire. The good news is, the VP rebuilds offered by the major companies tend to be much more reliable that what came on these trucks new.

Sorry about your bad luck. Do some searches in the 24-valve section of the site on replacement pumps. There are lots of threads on the subject and good information on quality companies.

Well pump has been removed from truck and getting ready to be shipped to Blue Chip Diesel (who re-manned the pump) and once it's there I'll get a price on whatever is wrong... ... ... .

Sorry to leave everyone hangin'... ... ... ... . got the verdict and it was indeed the VP44!!! I sent it back to Blue Chip Diesel for an autopsy and it was pretty bad interanally from what I understand. So, I had a few options that Chip Fisher gave me and I decided to go with the upgraded Special 'X' with a NEW computer that has ZERO heat cycles! I was under the assumption that I was already running a Special 'X' but found out I've been running their stock rebuild for nearly 4 years with NOT ONE SINGLE problem. Chip really stepped up and went above and beyond excellent customer service!!! I can't thank him enough!!!
So now I'm happy to report that the pump is in and running flawless. I also picked up about 2 MPG with the Edge running on 5x4!!

Im a firm believer in Chip. He helped me out on my former truck when i was having electrical issues. I talked to him over the phone several times and never bought anything off him. Thats why when the vp went on my current truck he was the first person i called. I felt i owed him not to mention i truly do believe hes got some of the best pumps on the market. Glad to hear everything worked out for you :)
