Average price for regular gasoline in Albuquerque today is $3. 01. I bought diesel at a Phillip 66 yesterday for $2. 88. Why is diesel cheaper? I'm not complaining, just wondering.

They've gouged us enough for the last 3 years. Maybe the ULSD facilities are paid for. I also think they had gasoline artificially lower during the election year (since most voters drive gassers) , but made huge profits from diesel. Now that the economy is in the loo, maybe they have decided that high diesel prices were causing too much inflation, as all merchandise is transported by some diesel or another.

The same people who own EXXON, also own GM, GE, Delta airlines, Bank of America, ENRON, etc. One year they make huge profits from one business, then another. I think (a big) food price inflation is next, and the pet food scare helped that cause. Biodiesel and gasohol will also cause food shortages/inflation, as they compete for the same farmland.

I find that diesel doesn't have the high and low spikes that gas does, so my theory is that it is lower right now because gas is on a high spike.

Now that makes sense. Another reason maybe, is that the refineries are not making heating oil right now.

Man, I got ripped off then. Last week I payed $3. 24 up in Pennsylvania, while Premium was sittin at just over $3. #@$%!

Diesel should always be cheaper, its cheaper to refine but the fuel markets lately have been changed to price fuel by the energy content rather than cost, then there is the supply/demand thing, when there is over production or lower demand, the prices tend to go down and vice versa on high demand/low supply, thats economics 101, wait until summer driving starts, the refineries will convert to producing gas and diesel supplies will go down, You will see higher diesel fuel prices soon, it's an annual cycle.

Pure greed. They can and do charge as much as they think they can get away with. They don't go by what it is worth, they go by how much they can charge and what they think we are willing to pay. They know that some of us have no choice but to pay. They also know that by prices going up and down it makes them look honest. They are in bed with whoever they need to be.

Pure Greed?? well thay's our capitlist system at its best, don't forget the oil peoples best friends in Washington that see no evil in economic rape.

Amend brothers... I think you hit the nail on the head. I for one have been stewing over this and I think we should organize all the diesel owners together and have some sort of over the road rally, protest drives, around the country to let Washington and the oil lobbyist know how the public feels.

Why not? The media would love it. :-laf

Any one want to take this on? I'm not the organizer type.

B]You seem to be still under some old quaint illusion that you still live in a free society, read the Patriot Act while you have all that time on your hands in prison[/B]

The truck strike in the mid 70's was supposed to be the answer to our problems. The organizers sold us down the river and we wound up being worse off than before. Big money is in charge and always will be. We are supposed to be grateful we live in the greatest country on the planet and not complain about greed and corruption because it could be worse. From what I see it is getting worse and no hope of getting better. I am a war refugee and a Korean war Veteran. That does not qualify me for anything but I have had a lot of time to observe the steady decline of Honesty and decency and the demoralization of the general population. What is the answer. Abolish the ACLU and put GOD back in our schools. There is no separation of Church and state. That is communist propaganda.

Diesel Prices

I guess I look at it a little differently. Diesel is not cheaper than gasoline. Gasoline is more expensive than diesel. Both cost too damn much. They haven't lowered the price of diesel, they just raised the price of gasoline so us diesel users would feel better for a while. Jeff

Amen... . now the apologists will start bringing out all the Same Old Crap justifying this... . just watch... ...

As long as Americans continue to use the same Driving habits they have had for the last 10 or more years, prices will stay high or climb. Example:(TWR) the construction company I own were working in the City of Dayton MN,The Neighbor would come and go at least 10 times per day back and forth from somewhere,One day we notice He or She left over 6 time before break, so we notice that one time she return with 1 gallon of milk, than he left and return with a dozen eggs, than she leaves and returns with smokes,Than they both leave and return with nothing ,etc,so poor organization couple with lack of cooperation poor communications, results Hmm, I wonder what the personal life problems are ,a little personal but I think we get the point.

It's kind of ironic. When I go on vacation next month, my biggest expense will be the cost of Diesel. Who would have thought that.

If there really is an energy crisis looming, why would China start to export cars to America? Maybe they (China) should export fuel to the U. S. :)

Our biggest expense on our 11,000 mile round trip last summer to Alaska was diesel. We made up for some of it on campground fees and restaurants. We never stayed in a hotel, but we did eat in restaurants now and then.

Its all munipulated. Just watch, over time our fuel prices will climb until they are equal with the high prices of fuel in Europe. In Europe, they pay the high fuel prices and still live. The oil companies feel if they can so can the people in the US. Fasten your seatbelt over the next few years... ... ... just watch..... and pay
