Read a great thread on this site about the 6.7 diesel fuel filters but it seems Athens Dodge and National Fleet supply no longer sell on Amazon. NCD Mopar is now selling "genuine MOPAR" filters for $91.96. Any info on NCD. Also if Athens and National are still selling these filters how do I order from them. Where else can genuine filters be bought cheaply.

EDit : Sorry I found Athens on Amazon at $89.

I had a problem where i messed up the gasket for the front fuel filter. And me with my bright ideas thought I might just reuse the old gasket. But those gaskets stretch when you remove them (remove the plastic filter cap)

Tried unsuccessfully to find a baldwin gasket (because baldwin makes 6.7 filters) at Grainger.com. wasted $3 on one I thought might fit, but it was for a larger cummins.

I ended up buying a cheap filter. I will just use the gasket and throw away the cheap filter. Didn't want to do that, but that was the only i could not throw away my (more expensive) mopar filter. The cheap one was $12 ish.

only problem with Diesel filters online is the shipping. believe it or not Rock Auto has some no name secondary fuel filters available for the latest greatest trucks that are like 14 dollars. I just don't have enough faith in the no name ( Premium Guard in this case) stuff to try em and find out the hard way. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=6835280&cc=3353666&jsn=338

Usually Amazon Prime fixes that shipping fee, I have bought all my fuel filters on Amazon with free shipping, and all from Athens

you are correct about Amazon Prime, but one of the members mentioned Diesel Filters Online, and that is what I was referring too. Diesel Filters online is a good source if you buy in bulk as they hammer you for shipping on the first item, but shipping hardly costs any more if you buy a case of filters. that was my point. yeah, amazon Prime is great too.

So since we are talking about the fuel filters... does anyone have a trick to make the lid on the secondary filter easier to remove... I've been very careful to watch the torque wrench and actually torque it at 20, instead of the 22 as required... When I go to remove the lid later... its always, I mean always hard to remove and I can't do it with a ratchet but need a breaker bar...

I've thought about using a anti-seize material but am a little worried about the plastic material... or maybe synthetic would be a better word...

I just hand tighten it, and then give it a tweak with a wrench. secondary filter is pressurized and sealed with an o ring, so realistically you don't need to reef down on it for it to seal and you could see a leak if it was too loose.

I bought both filters last week on Amazon for $85 w/ free shipping

I sure would not want to introduce anti-seize into the fuel system by applying it to the lid.
Slow, constant, steady pressure is all you need to loosen the cap.
Have you tried using a longer piece of pipe as an extension on your ratchet for removing the lid

shipping was $20 and the fuel was 2 micron nd the oil 15. I have two sets on the way. one for me and one for another owner.

like someone else said, anti seize isn't a good idea but you could use weenie slicker ( vaseline) for install purposes.. but it would dissolve where it contacts fuel.

The install is easy. It is the removal that is challenging. Seems like the o-ring swells up and maybe the plastic a bit too?

So I am just going to throw this out there at the risk of being tarred and feathered...but here goes...could you just replace the front filter every other change of the rear? I think the rear does the bulk of the filtering and when I pulled out the front cartridge, it was almost new looking! Is the front filter a finer filter like a 2 mic versus something a bit more coarse in the back? Just asking...NOT saying I would ever do it but just a question.
