hey 12v98, nice bike. I'm sure your bike is injected,or it should have been fuel injected when built as the MOCO to the best of my knwledge had gotten rid of carberators by 09. technically as part of alphabet soup Harley uses its model name actually has a I at the end of the long name. aka its probably a FLHTCUI.

anyway, which basically means and FLH chassis, Ultra Classic trim with injection LOL.
if that filter you pictured is in there, I can honestly say that I have never seen anything like that before inside the tank of a Harley...

does it not have a sealed metallic can type filter inline after the electric pump?

I had a 2000 Road King and injected was an option that year. I got it injected so I could ride in the mountains without worrying about carb jets.
My 03 Electra Glide was injected too but I think all the touring models were then.

Lynx, to be honest the CV carb harley was using , by its nature compensated for altitude, whereas the earlier weber marelli fuel injection used on those older bikes was just a simple speed density system that didn't know much of anything except throttle position and engine speed. my 01 FLHTCI is still running, has 214,000 miles on it now.

I finally traded my 03 last spring. I kinda still miss it. I had 93k miles on it and it was due for quite a repair bill to get it on the road again.
Maybe I will move on during this season [emoji16]

what did you trade it for?

the teeth came off the belt on my 01 recently... amazing how simple a belt is, and how much work it is to replace. ie the primary , the swingarm and the wheel goota come off. when I took it apart the swingarm bushings were gone, and so were the isolators,, I might as well replace the tire as it was pretty well bald so now I just have laid out about 800 bucks into a 2000 dollar bike, and that is my cost for the parts, labor is free.

like they say RTS FTS... ride the SH## fix the SH##

Here is the fuel filter info form the service manual. Watched a vid about changing the "FILTER" the guy completely removed the entire system by disconnecting wiring and two fuel lines. I thought HMMMMM I think I can just pull filter portion out and R&R the filter, it worked!!! I want to join a Harley Forum any advise at to what one would be best???

12V, I learned something today... that setup you have is way freaking better than the setup in my 01.. Harley musta had a bunch of complaints about the old setup... it was expensive..

so do they still use those expensive screws to hold the top on the tank?

let me get you a picture,so I have an old marelli fuel pump and filter out in my shed, you should have tried getting it onto the new plastic hoses.

I bought a leftover 16 Limited. Last red one in the northeast.

The old one needed a belt, all new disks, calipers and pads, it’s second cam chain tensioner, and it really needed new paint.

No they have a locking ring. There is a rubber gasket you replace at the same time similar to the one behind the Derby cover. Special tool for about $35, looks like a hand held magnifying lens without the glass cheaper than the HD tool.

I just bought 4 water separators from this ebay vendor for $170.

I made an offer for $40 per filter for 4 of them.
(Tried to get them for $160 for 4) He counter offered at $42.50 per filter & that comes to $170 with free shipping.
