Everyone needs to read CELL by Stephen King. You will spend the next couple of days dreading to answer your cell phone.

Android is the Google operating system. All Android phones use Google Maps and have full blown GPS driving directions with real photo maps showing your driving. When you get to your location you get a streetview. Pretty amazing technology.



Apple is too restrictive. You cannot replace your battery... it does not run "Flash" which many websites use for video clips.

I have a plain cell phone. No text or other bells and whistles. I started out years ago, with a bag phone. It was my concession to my wife, for putting up with me working alone in the woods. I check in at lunch, and call if I'm going to be late. My wife, best friend, and the saw mill are the only ones with the phone number.

Work supplied cell phone. Heck, I don't even answer the landline. If you want to reach me, just email.

Started with a bag phone also. Have a smartphone now only because ATT gave it to me for free (of course its not free, sell my soul for two years, stay on their crappy service etc). I don't even know how to send a text but I do occasionally use the internet. My plan is one they don't even offer anymore and I have minimum data.

I will be getting rid of my land line also. I am retiring next month and will go cruising in the boat for the summer. Plan on getting rid of the regular phone, cable, etc. I kind of hate to get rid of my home phone number though. Have had that for 35 years.

Here is something you guys may find interesting...



We had to replace the home land line phones, we have been using a Panasonic brand base unit that has a portable phone and 3 wireless remote stations with portable units. Batteries went bad in two out of four portables so might as well replace them all.



Wife spotted a 4 unit system at Best Buy made by Panasonic, called me and said it showed Bluetooth compatability on the box.

Told her to buy it and I would look at it.



What a nice system!!! It allows you to bluetooth up to 2 cellphones so that you can answer the land line or either cell phone from any of the four portable units.

You can call out on you choice of land line or either cell phone.



It will also function without a land line, so you can still have the portable phones in convenient areas of the house.

We toss the cell phones on the counter whenever we get home and let all the calls come through the house phones.



Once you do the initial sync the phone will grab the cell phones whenever they are in range.

I think the more appropriate question would be " who DOESN'T have a cell phone"



I've had a cell phone for years and years because of work. But I find it very handy now just for everyday life. I just use the cheapest phone I can get that has a decent quality voice and quality reception. No email, no web surfing, etc. I had texting turned off until a couple of years ago when a customer texted me to say he would be late for a meeting. (I missed the text). So, now I am "text capable", but hardly ever use it.



And, since we're talking about phones, a lot of people these days will bundle their internet, TV, and phone with their ISP. Since I have a separate line in my house for business, I have that line with comcast. However, my main house line is the good old copper pair line. The internet has gone down, especially at times when we might lose power for several days. The copper pair land line has NEVER gone down.

Have had a cell phone since '94.



All have been work supplied except for my newest one.



Never had a "smart phone" until March of this year when I lost my last company supplied phone due to a job change.



I bought an iPhone. I already have a bunch of Apple stuff and the iPhone works seamlessly with everything.



It's not the best smart phone but it does what I need it to do quite well. I'm not a huge fan of smart phones but the convenience factor is pretty nice.
